Chapter 454: Mutant Translator: Tim Editor: GlobeGlotter

The man by the window seemed shocked Ye Mo had noticed him. He stammered in Chinese, “You… did you detect my arrival?”

“Cut the crap. Tell me who you are, or you won’t get another chance to talk,” Ye Mo said coldly. Even if the man identified himself, Ye Mo wouldn’t let him go. That room was Ning Qingxue’s. Had Ye Mo not been there, Ning Qingxue would have been alone. He wouldn't let a stranger who snuck into her room escape. He'd asked to see if anyone else was involved.

The man was a foreigner, white-skinned and slight of build.

Although Ye Mo possessed spirit sense, he couldn’t maintain it constantly. Even without it, he could sense anyone approaching. This was the first time he hadn’t noticed someone, raising a red flag.

As Ye Mo spoke, another man, much larger, jumped in. He was Black. Ye Mo scanned his spirit sense; a third man waited outside. Ye Mo sneered, but remained silent.

“No chance?” the first man repeated, laughing. He said sarcastically, “You say we have no chance? Do you know I can kill you with a flick of my wrist?”

The other man remained motionless and silent, as if Ye Mo didn’t exist.

Two white men and one Black man. Ye Mo was confused. Since when was he in conflict with these foreigners? Why did they want Qingxue?

They possessed a strange chi, unlike the qi of ancient martial arts cultivators or his own spirit chi. It was subtle yet as powerful as ancient martial arts, making it impossible to gauge their true strength.

Ye Mo had never seen such power before, nor knew what they cultivated.

Ye Mo coldly asked, “I don’t know you. Why are you here?”

“You’re unlucky. Why are you in Ms. Ning’s room? Oh, are you her man? Ms. Ning Qingxue is quite pretty, but don’t worry. We’re here to invite her to our headquarters; we mean no harm. It’s just troublesome that you know about this. Tell us where she went, and we’ll let you go,” the first man said casually.

Ye Mo’s expression was cold. Ning Qingxue certainly didn’t know these people. Why did they want her? He suddenly realized something. Eden must have told the US government what Ning Qingxue had said, and now they wanted her for information. Because the matter was confidential, the US military wanted to abduct Ning Qingxue before the Chinese military found out.

One can't be too kindhearted. Ye Mo felt killing intent. Had he killed Eden, this wouldn’t have happened. But he hadn’t killed Eden, nor the pirate.

Although Ye Mo knew it wasn’t Eden’s fault, in the cultivation realm, dead people were safest. The foreigner noticed Ye Mo’s killing intent. He sneered, “It seems Ms. Ning told you about the incident, and you know how serious it is. Come with us, and you can live.”

Ye Mo sneered, “I wanted you to leave, but now you no longer have that chance.”

Immediately, Ye Mo unleashed two wind blades and two fireballs at the two men. He had no mercy for these stupid foreigners.

Psh! The first man dodged the lethal strike with incredible speed, losing only an arm. The fireball turned it to ash, but didn’t harm his vital organs.

The other man completely dodged the wind blade and fireball, retaliating with a spark of lightning.

It was the first time Ye Mo had seen anyone this fast—no less than ancient martial artists.

Lightning-style attacks were powerful in the cultivation realm. Only those with a lightning spiritual root could use them. Ye Mo hadn’t expected to see someone use lightning style on Earth. His heart sank. Had he encountered a cultivator with a lightning spiritual root?

If so, Ye Mo wouldn’t survive the night. But he soon found he could easily dodge the lightning strike. It lacked the precision of strong spirit sense. It struck the floor, creating a large hole.

Was that even a lightning-style attack? Ye Mo felt strange. He’d never seen one so weak. Even the weakest lightning spiritual root cultivator could use lightning arts far better.

“He’s a wind and fire type mutant, level four. We’ll retreat and request backup,” the white man outside said in English.

Ye Mo, recovering from his shock, realized the intruders were retreating. However, since they’d come, Ye Mo wouldn’t let them go. That lightning strike couldn’t harm him, but letting them escape would be disastrous. If their lightning-style cultivation reached a certain level, even he wouldn’t be a match.

The shorter, more agile man, who spoke Chinese, was the first to flee. Ye Mo threw three wind blades after him as he jumped out the window. With an arm already severed, a few more wind blades would slice him to pieces.

The lightning-style man was tall and fast. Seeing his teammate fall, he threw two more lightning strikes at Ye Mo.

Ye Mo sensed these strikes were weaker than before. He didn’t bother dodging, letting them pass before throwing a fireball at the man’s back.

Ye Mo thought they’d dodge the fireball, allowing him to follow with wind blades to sever their legs. But the man, whom Ye Mo considered the strongest, didn’t dodge the fireball. He was reduced to ash.

Ye Mo was dazed. Why was it so easy? It was as if he’d used immense force to lift something heavy, only to find it hollow and plastic.

Could lightning-style cultivators really be that weak? Ye Mo shook his head, dismissing the thought. There had been one more, but he was already out of Ye Mo’s spirit sense range.

Ye Mo considered what had happened. He wanted Xu Yuehua to investigate, but the mountains surrounding Flowing Snake made it impossible for Flowing Snake to secure capable personnel.

Unless this place became a city. A city? Ye Mo realized he might have to build a city there.

Ye Mo approached the lightning-style man’s body and found no trace of lightning-style cultivation methods or spirit chi.

The man wasn’t a dao cultivator. If not, how could he use lightning-style magic?

Mutants? Ye Mo thought.

Their mutant power was too weak. Even if struck, he wouldn't have been hurt.

The Americans had sent several mutants to capture Ning Qingxue. They seemed to care deeply about that Japanese organization.

Ye Mo casually destroyed the bodies and called Ning Qingxue.
