Chapter 476: Nan Mountain Right Beneath One’s Feet Translator: Tim Editor: GlobeGlotter

As Ye Mo’s sword was about to be blocked, it swerved at an impossible angle and pierced his Adam’s apple.

Wang Lenchan’s sword fell as he stared at Ye Mo in disbelief. “So this is your trump card. I underestimated you a fourth time…” His eyes lost their color. He was truly unsatisfied. He’d brought the Wang family to the tournament, and now, he’d lost everyone.

Suddenly, he seemed to remember something and opened his eyes one last time. He pulled out a triangular object and desperately said, “Wang family, seal the mountain for fifty years…”

He threw the object, piercing the young man the middle-aged man had saved. Then, Wang Lenchan died.

Even Ye Mo hadn’t expected Wang Lenchan to be so decisive, leaving no one alive. With the youth’s death, every member of the Wang family who’d come had perished.

The youth never expected his family leader to kill him. He was the Wang family’s greatest genius, a black-level tertiary stage cultivator at only twenty-five. But no words left his lips; his eyes went cold, mirroring Wang Lenchan’s, and he died.

From the beginning to the end of the fight, Ye Mo hadn’t found that bleak chi. It was as though, after their first clash, it had vanished.

Ye Mo decided to stop investigating the mountain. He sincerely felt he’d underestimated the world’s masters. If, a few hours earlier, he’d fought Xiang Mingwang, Feng Wu, and Wang Lenchan together, victory would have been uncertain.

They were all part of the six great sects, yet Wang Lenchan’s power was so high. Dian Cang and He Liu were too weak. Although Ye Mo knew only Wang Lenchan was this strong in his sect, it raised alarm bells. The Wang family was ranked third; what about the first and second? And what about the Gourd Cave Sect Leader in solitary cultivation, and the Jiu Ming Academy Sect Leader?

One could imagine Tai Yi of the inner hidden sects would be far stronger than these outer hidden sects combined. Ye Mo would likely not survive attempting revenge on Tai Yi now.

For the first time, Ye Mo properly considered his strength. China had a long history and countless masters pursuing higher states, unconcerned with mortal affairs. No wonder the government felt threatened by the hidden sects; their power was frightening indeed.

The hidden sects wouldn’t let their greatest master join the heaven squad. Tan Jiao had reached great heaven but was still weaker than Wang Lenchan. There had to be a reason.

Ye Mo burned the bodies with fireballs and threw the weapons into a ditch before burying them. If he hadn’t damaged Wang Lenchan’s sword so severely, he would have taken it, but now, he had no interest.

Afterward, Ye Mo hopped onto his flying sword and headed to the Xiyue Hotel.

It was 3:00 a.m., but Ye Mo found Han Yan still awake. She sat in the room, worriedly looking outside.

“Han Yan, you have a tournament today. Why aren’t you sleeping?” Ye Mo asked, entering the room.

“Brother Ye, you’re fine? That’s great!” Han Yan immediately stood, overjoyed. She’d planned to find Ye Mo at daybreak. If Ye Mo hadn’t come, she wouldn’t have gone to the tournament. She knew that to the hidden sects, killing meant little.

Ye Mo asked curiously, “What could have happened to me?”

Han Yan answered, eyes red, “This morning, someone named Gai Cheng came, making me give him and his disciple the suite. He was about to attack, saying you wouldn’t be coming back and that by tomorrow morning, I’d be finding your body. Just as he was about to force me out, Sect Leader Zeng Zhengxia arrived. He drove him away and stayed for two hours before leaving. He told me you’d offended Sect Leaders Xiang and Wang and that if you didn’t return before morning, I should leave this city immediately.”

It seemed many knew Wang Lenchan intended to kill him that night, yet even before he died, these people had already arrived. If something had happened to him, what would have become of his followers?

“Who is Gai Cheng, and where is he staying?” Ye Mo asked.

Han Yan said, “Sect Leader Zeng said he was a doctor who’d gotten into ancient martial arts by chance and knew the Wang family. He could come this time because of the Wang family. He’s staying at the Yuan Cheng Hotel.”

Ye Mo nodded. “Okay, wait here for me. I’ll be back soon.”

Han Yan saw Ye Mo leave and knew he was going after Gai Cheng. She wasn’t worried; Sect Leader Zeng had said he was at most earth level primary stage.

Han Yan relaxed considerably after Ye Mo returned. She’d thought he’d only return by daytime, but he unexpectedly came back in less than twenty minutes.

“Brother Ye, I thought you’d gone after Gai Cheng,” Han Yan said, relieved, despite knowing Gai Cheng was no match for him.

Ye Mo only smiled. He didn’t tell her he’d killed Gai Cheng and his disciple, merely asking, “How are those few moves I taught you coming along?”

“I’ve only learned one and can barely use it,” Han Yan said, thinking the sword move Ye Mo had taught her was quite substantial.

Ye Mo nodded. “En, you have a tournament tomorrow, so go to sleep. I still have some business.”

After Han Yan slept, Ye Mo sat to recover his wounds. Though not seriously injured, he dared not be careless. Even though he wanted to annihilate the Wang family, he didn’t know where Nan Mountain was.

It was 7:00 a.m. when Ye Mo walked out refreshed. After one night, his wounds had healed, and he’d managed to grasp a sword move from Wang Lenchan’s technique. It involved using the sword ray to envelop the inner qi and explode sword chi outward to attack. This move used too much chi, however, so he couldn’t use it casually.

Han Yan looked at Ye Mo’s back and suddenly felt he was ten thousand miles away, as though he might fly into the clouds at any moment. This feeling was strange.

“You’re awake; go wash yourself, and then we’ll go to Broken Top Mountain together,” Ye Mo said, turning and smiling.

Han Yan felt relieved. After Ye Mo turned, that feeling was gone. Ye Mo had returned to the normal person she knew.

“Brother Ye, haha, I knew you’d be fine!” A hoarse voice sounded. Ye Mo didn’t need to turn to know it was Zeng Zhengxia.

Ye Mo brought him into the yard area of his suite and sat down. “Thank you, Brother Zeng, for last night. If you hadn’t come, Han Yan would have been hurt.”

Zeng Zhengxia waved his hand casually. “Piece of cake. Gai Cheng is nothing, but he does know the Wang family. I thought Wang Lenchan would come after you, but I didn’t expect him to let you go last night.” He figured if Wang Lenchan had attacked Ye Mo, Ye Mo wouldn’t be sitting here.

Ye Mo smiled and asked casually, “Brother Zeng, have you ever heard of the Nan Mountain Wang family’s location?”

Zeng Zhengxia didn’t understand and sighed. “The most hidden aren’t actually the Gourd Cave or Jiu Ming Academy, but the Nan Mountain Wang family. It’s said their heritage is called Nan Mountain, which is right beneath one’s feet. It means no one knows where it is, or how strong it is—”

Then, Zeng Zhengxia seemed to realize something and stood abruptly, looking at Ye Mo in disbelief.
