Chapter 521: Building Luo Yue Translator: Tim Editor: GlobeGlotter
Seeing this, Li Sandaoโs face changed. โThatโs the American prospector. They arrived a week ago, and now theyโre back,โ he said.
โDoesnโt Freddy care about them?โ Ye Mo asked.
Li Sandao shook his head. โHe doesnโt dare touch them. If they seized Sai Na, Freddy would surrender first, Iโm sure.โ
โWhat do they usually do here?โ Ye Mo nodded and asked.
โI think they want to build a huge tourist cityโa money-making machine. Last time, they were checking the soil content in the forests,โ Li Sandao replied, still lacking faith in fighting the Americans.
Just as Li Sandao and Ye Mo were talking, more than ten people disembarked from the plane. Except for the first few, most were fully armed. They had brought some U.S. troops.
โGo take a look,โ Ye Mo told Li Sandao. He didnโt want the U.S. to seize the territory before he did.
Thirty to forty men followed Li Sandao.
When the two parties met, a yellow-skinned man glanced at Li Sandao and asked casually, โYouโre Li Sandao?โ
Before Li Sandao could reply, he continued, โWeโll be prospecting here for a few days. You have no business here. Make sure your men donโt wander around, and tell Freddy to keep it down.โ
He then signaled for his men to move. They carried various equipment and headed toward the forest.
Ye Mo wanted to throw a wind blade, but knew it wouldnโt solve the problem. He said to Li Sandao, โThese Americans should leave soon. Afterward, do as I say. Our men will arrive in three days. If the Americans ask how their men died, tell them people die suddenly here without warning. Tell your men the same thing. Furthermore, take control of Freddyโs men as quickly as possible. Those who donโt surrenderโkill them.โ
Though unsure of Ye Moโs confidence, Li Sandao obeyed.
The Americans, seeing them leave, didnโt care. In their eyes, Li Sandao was a small-time gangster, no match for the U.S. government.
Ye Mo entered the forest, thinking, โIf only I had a ghost; killing them all would be a breeze.โ Without one, he had to do it himself. After his targets entered the forest, he began conjuring his chi into needles.
That way, no one could explain their deaths.
Before fully taking over Sai Na, Ye Mo wouldnโt openly slaughter. Afterward, however, he would.
As the soldiers walked, looking around, a few gunshots rang out, followed by silence. After a while, Ye Mo assumed Li Sandao had controlled Freddyโs men, so he began shooting his needle-shaped chi into the Americansโ ears.
When the first soldier fell, people assumed poisonous snakes were nearby, injecting themselves with anti-venom and watching for snakes.
When the second and third soldiers fell, however, the Americans halted their movements.
When the fourth, fifth, and sixth soldiers died, they worried and retreated.
โItโs a curse! This is a cursed forest! Leave immediately and report this!โ a grey-clothed American yelled. A curse was the best explanation. No one seemed to be attacking them, at least not visibly. The dead soldiers didnโt even have wounds. What else could it be but a curse?
Ye Mo wouldnโt kill them all; he needed someone to report back. He was sure the U.S. would send more people, but that would take a couple of days. By then, he would have claimed Sai Na.
The Americans initially tried to carry the dead bodies, but as more died, they abandoned them in the forest.
Only two remained when they reached the edge of the forest, spared by Ye Mo.
They stood outside, fearing for their lives. They wouldnโt dare enter that forest again. To them, it was a demonโs forest.
Ye Moโs prediction was correct. The two survivors immediately sought out Li Sandao. Li Sandao kept his men in check as the Americans approached and communicated.
Hearing only two men remained after entering the forest, Li Sandao was shocked. He recalled Ye Moโs words and knew heโd done it.
Silently admiring Ye Moโs power, he said exactly what Ye Mo instructed: that strange deaths occasionally occurred in the areaโsometimes none, sometimes many.
Their faces fell. They asked no further questions, never imagining Li Sandao would dare deceive them.
After their plane left Sai Na, Ye Mo thought contemptuously, โThat was the last time your plane landed in Sai Na. There wonโt be a next time.โ
When Ye Mo reached Flowing Snake, everyone awaited him, including Luo Yin and Luo Fei, who no longer seemed to be in conflict. Ye Mo didnโt know how theyโd resolved things, but it didnโt matter now.
The ensuing meeting quickly settled many issues. Xu Ping brought his several hundred guards to Sai Na first, followed by Xu Yuehua. The builders would travel to Sai Na by plane, the large machines shipped separately, and Ye Mo left dealings with the Chinese government to Ye Ling, who would contact Ye Zifeng.
Luo Yue rented all necessary transportation. They were wealthy, but not wealthy enough to casually buy many planes and ships.
Flowing Snake also began a population count. Those wanting to live in Sai Na would receive permanent residency and, once Luo Yue City was built, would be citizens protected by Luo Yue City.
Flowing Snake had nearly 150,000 people, mostly businessmen. Only about 60,000 were long-term residents.
Luo Yueโs announcement swept the world. Astute traders began preparing to move to Sai Na.
What shocked people most was Luo Yueโs announcement that they were moving to Sai Na, renaming it Luo Yue, and building Luo Yue City. They declared Luo Yue City wouldnโt belong to any country and that Chinese nationals would have advantages in applying for permanent residency.
Luo Yue had dared seize unclaimed land and declare it to the world, surprising the U.S. and shocking the globe.
Even more shocking was their statement that any armed forces approaching Luo Yue without permission would be annihilated.
