Chapter 523: Treating Patients Translator: Tim Editor: GlobeGlotter
Meanwhile, Ye Mo was unaware of the Americans’ intentions. He was treating his first patient, an oil tycoon from Kuwait named Aimore, whose condition was critical; he was near death. Had he had other options, he wouldn't have come to Luo Yue.
Aimore suffered from an uninterruptible sleep disorder. He had sought specialists worldwide, to no avail.
The disease seemed simple, but his condition was dire—he could stay awake for only ten minutes at most before falling asleep again. While asleep, his organs deteriorated rapidly.
A Canadian doctor had injected him with a serum, but a side effect caused accelerated aging. His aging process had drastically sped up.
Due to his extensive family and business responsibilities, he had to continue using the serum, pushing him to the brink of death.
He only trusted Luo Yue because of the beauty pill's reputed potency.
His older son, Jessy, his wife Anna, and several bodyguards accompanied him. Additionally, CBS News was present.
Jessy had invited them. The hospital had received a substantial sum for Aimore's treatment, and CBS's presence was intended as a safeguard.
CBS eagerly accepted, hoping for firsthand coverage of Luo Yue. However, Luo Yue was heavily guarded; more than ten patrol ships were present.
Ye Mo recognized Aimore's disease, though it was far advanced. His cultivation revealed withering meridians as the cause. The only cure was injecting chi into the meridians to restore life force.
Before treatment, Ye Mo inquired about Aimore's wealth, aware that not all wealthy individuals could readily produce $100 million. Truly wealthy people, of course, didn't appear on Forbes.
Real wealth often remained hidden. People commonly measured wealth by assets, but this was an incomplete measure.
Aimore was such a case. Through Xu Yuehua, Ye Mo learned Aimore's assets ranked relatively low globally, around $10 billion. Ye Mo knew this figure was inaccurate.
Seeing Ye Mo's silence, Jessy frowned. He'd only brought his father due to ongoing family disputes over the inheritance; but a cure would clearly benefit him.
"Doctor, can you cure my father?" Jessy asked.
Ye Mo nodded. "I can, but the treatment will be expensive. I require one billion." Ye Mo had considered this; he couldn't remain in Luo Yue indefinitely. There had been few patients recently. This would allow him to leave Luo Yue and focus on his cultivation.
"One billion?" Jessy fell silent. A substantial sum, even for them, but not insurmountable.
Ye Mo looked at Jessy. "Don't worry about being cheated. CBS is here; if I intended to defraud you, I wouldn't risk public outrage. Of course, you can pay after your father's cured."
Jessy agreed. Though high, the price was worthwhile if it saved his father.
Ye Mo was direct. Having reached an agreement, he immediately began treatment. He dismissed everyone before using his chi to repair Aimore's meridians.
Despite being at the mid-stage of level four, it took two hours. After restoring the meridians, Aimore fell asleep. Ye Mo then created a serum from a piece of thousand-year snow lotus and administered it.
Ye Mo then woke Aimore with acupuncture and opened the door.
Three hours had passed. If Guo Qi's guards hadn't appeared so intimidating, Jessy would have burst in.
Aimore awoke confused as his wife and son rushed in. He was unaware of what had transpired. Anna and Jessy stared in disbelief; Aimore looked ten years younger, and far healthier.
The family discussed events. Aimore, understanding the situation, immediately thanked Ye Mo. One billion was significant, but not prohibitive. He would have paid ten billion if necessary.
Aimore instantly instructed Jessy to transfer the funds to Luo Yue. His improved condition was unmistakable; he felt energetic and hungry. His recovery was complete.
CBS recorded the family's conversation and gratitude. Despite repeated requests, Ye Mo refused to remove his mask. He still had many enemies, now including America, in addition to Northern Sand.
…
Xu Yuehua and the family didn't linger; Aimore had pressing matters. Had he not woken, his family and business would have been devastated.
"That was easy money," Xu Yuehua sighed, receiving the billion.
Ye Mo shook his head. "Such opportunities are rare. Few can casually spend $100 million. Sister Yuehua, expedite Luo Yue's construction. Allocate funds to Xu Ping for building the army. We need soldiers loyal to Luo Yue, and we need self-defense."
"I know. I've discussed it with Xu Ping. Recruitment is progressing well. Modern warfare prioritizes funding and scientists, not sheer numbers. We're recruiting globally. In a few years, things will be different. I'm just worried about a sudden US attack," Xu Yuehua said anxiously.
Ye Mo frowned. He couldn't understand the US inaction after he killed their soldiers. It wasn't typical.
"Why haven't the US attacked?" Ye Mo asked unconsciously. He'd stayed to eliminate any US soldiers, yet none had come. What were they doing?
"Are they waiting until Luo Yue's nearly complete to strike?" Xu Yuehua asked.
Ye Mo smiled. "Do you think this is a child's game? They wouldn't wait until everything's finished to destroy it. They wouldn't do anything unprofitable—"
Ye Mo stopped abruptly. He understood the US's inaction.
"So, that's it." Ye Mo relaxed.
