Edward, having heard from Dongfang Tang about Ye Mo’s directness, said, “I believe Mr. Ye and Ms. Xu already know why we’re here. Please accept Blue Ray Corporation’s deepest apologies. We would like to offer any compensation you deem necessary.”
Edward hadn’t mentioned wanting his men back; he’d only offered compensation.
Instead of Ye Mo, Xu Yuehua spoke. “We don’t need an apology; we just want to know why you attacked Luo Yue.”
Edward said without hesitation, “We’re mercenaries. We would only do something that stupid on the orders of our clients. Ms. Xu, you must know we don’t have fleets.”
Then, without Xu Yuehua prompting, Edward continued, “We were hired by the Indonesian navy. Their naval commander, Xiao Luqiu, negotiated with us personally. They said they lacked sufficient military power, so they hired us to attack Luo Yue.”
“Oh, so that’s it! General Ku You, what is your verdict?” Xu Yuehua looked at Ku You.
Ku You, though impetuous, knew it was too late. His men had confessed; why deny it? He quickly replied, “That’s right. Commander Xiao Luqiu contacted us and asked us to send men. They offered 300 million USD.”
Xu Yuehua smiled. “In that case, sign here, just in case you change your minds.” Xu Yuehua produced a document and placed it before Ku You and Edward.
Although they knew they were likely being recorded, they dared not refuse. The two men looked at the document and smiled bitterly. It was already printed; they’d been waiting for their signatures.
Xu Yuehua put the document away, and Ye Mo stood, believing the negotiation concluded.
Edward smiled bitterly at Ye Mo and also stood. After some hesitation, he finally said, “Mr. Ye, some of our men are still—”
