Chapter 555: This Isn’t Over Translator: Timothy Editor: GlobeGlotter

Ye Mo went upstairs and said to Annie, “Annie, you took my money; why aren’t you leading the way?”

Annie was already worried and flustered. Ye Mo’s sudden appearance only increased her anxiety.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Ye. Please wait outside; I’ll be out soon.” Annie knew escape was impossible, but she knew the white man. Perhaps Ye Mo would be implicated.

“What’s going on?” Ye Mo looked at the slapped girl and approached.

Annie said, “Sister Sisi broke a customer’s belongings and can’t afford to replace them. I, uh—”

Ye Mo immediately understood.

Ye Mo’s intervention finally spurred the white and Chinese men to react.

“Who are you?” the middle-aged man scrutinized Ye Mo, asking contemptuously.

“I’m a friend of Annie’s. What was broken? And why are you hitting people?” Ye Mo casually scanned the man.

Ye Mo noticed the white man’s gun and two burly men nearby.

The middle-aged man sneered. “Yin Si is my restaurant worker, and Edward is our honored guest. Yin Si broke his white jade statue—requiring compensation, wouldn’t you agree? Since she’s my worker, I’m only asking for 10%, I’ll cover the rest. But if she refuses even 10%, what then? I can send her to jail.”

“Mr. Ross, you know she can’t pay the 1 million you’re demanding. And is it really worth 10 million? You’re doing this intentionally, aren’t you?” Annie started to argue, then glanced at the white man and fell silent.

“You don’t have the money?” Ross sneered at Annie and Yin Si.

After Ye Mo arrived, the white man stopped cursing Yin Si and signaled his bodyguards to block the downstairs entrance.

“What’s the 10% cost—1 million?” Ye Mo asked.

Ross sneered. “Whatever the customer says. If you can’t pay for what you broke, shouldn’t you kneel?”

Ross realized he shouldn’t be answering Ye Mo. He scanned Ye Mo. “Who are you to Yin Si? Will you pay? If not, why ask questions?”

Ye Mo smiled. “I’ll pay, but I haven’t seen the object. If it’s truly worth 1 million, I’ll pay.”

Ross scoffed, but froze.

Ye Mo held three stacks of new bills—at least $20,000. Before anyone reacted, the money vanished.

Ross’s eyes widened. If this young man casually produced $20,000, he must have more. The bills looked fresh from the bank.

Edward saw the money, his eyes gleaming, but he masked his greed. He began scheming.

Ye Mo sneered. $20,000 made them greedy? The statue couldn’t possibly be worth 10 million.

Annie’s eyes widened. She couldn’t believe Ye Mo concealed the money in his thin clothing. She hadn’t expected him to be so wealthy! Everyone used cards; who carries that much cash?

But Annie knew the situation was dire; Edward had seen the money. And Edward was notorious in Mesica.

Yin Si subconsciously looked at Annie. She knew all Annie’s friends—since when did she know someone this rich?

Before Ross could speak, Ye Mo continued, “Since you want compensation, show me the damage. I need to see it.”

If not for Annie and Yin Si, he would have already killed them both. Things wouldn't be so troublesome then.

“Oh, of course.” Ross retrieved a white jade statue and handed it to Ye Mo. “This is it. Edward paid 10 million at auction. It’s from Ancient Roman ruins.”

Ye Mo sneered. He knew it was modern glass, worth at most $10. He saw a crack on the back.

These two were clearly scamming Yin Si, but she didn’t seem wealthy. Why scam her? Ye Mo looked at Yin Si. She was clean and decent, but not stunningly beautiful. Why would Edward and Ross be interested in her?

Ye Mo examined the statue. As a cultivator capable of creating high-level artifacts, he repaired it instantly. He looked at the statue and said, “Mr. Ross, I don’t see any damage. I removed a hair, and it seems perfectly fine. Perhaps you were mistaken?”

“Perfectly fine? If it’s fine, I’ll eat it and give you a million!” Ross sneered, taking the statue. He looked for the crack.

Yin Si stared at Ye Mo in disbelief. The lie would be exposed. She had seen the crack.

Ross was disappointed. He examined it repeatedly, finding no cracks. Had it really been a hair? Impossible!

Ross decided to drop the statue; the glass would crack. He’d deny dropping it.

But before it hit the ground, Ye Mo caught it with his foot, then flicked it into his hand.

Ye Mo sneered, “Mr. Ross, it’s perfectly fine. If you drop it, you pay.”

Ross was stunned. His trump card failed.

Ye Mo returned the statue. “Mr. Ross, if you drop it again, that’s intentional.”

Ross gave it to Edward. Edward confirmed there were no cracks. Had they been mistaken?

“Since we were wrong, never mind.” Edward sneered. He’d find another way. Yin Si’s family was there; they couldn’t escape. This young man was rich. He wouldn't let him go. He didn't care about the $20,000; if the man could produce it casually, he had more.

“Huh, just like that?” Annie almost screamed. Yin Si felt she was dreaming.

Edward’s words forced Ross to glare at Yin Si. “You were lucky this time.”

Ye Mo intervened, “Mr. Ross, this isn’t over. The misunderstanding was about the statue, but we haven’t resolved your hitting Ms. Yin Si.”
