Chapter 565: New Radar System Translator: Timothy Editor: GlobeGlotter
“Annie, what are you planning to do?” Ye Mo looked at Annie, unsure if she would go with them.
“Annie, come with us. You can’t stay here,” Yin Si said quickly.
Annie looked conflicted. “But my dad…”
After Yin Si’s explanation, Ye Mo understood Annie’s father was an alcoholic who had bankrupted the family.
Ye Mo shook his head. “Go explain the situation to her father. If he wants to come, we leave immediately; otherwise, never mind. I’ll wait here.”
After the three left, Ye Mo entered Sister Yan’s room. It was simple, containing only a bed and a mirror.
Ye Mo sighed in front of the mirror, wondering how many times Sister Yan had done the same. Now, she could finally do what she needed to do. Ye Mo didn’t stop her; everyone had their own troubles. Sister Yan had been without freedom, but now she was free.
The sky-blue quilt was old but clean, its faint aroma noticeable in the small, dark room.
Ye Mo shook his head and stored the mirror and bed in his ring. Sister Yan had used them, so he kept them.
A slip of paper fell from under the quilt. He picked it up; it read, “Beauty ages easily, while yearning is slow to fade away.”
Ye Mo was dazed. Who had Sister Yan yearned for? Did someone as pretty as she need to yearn for anyone?
While Ye Mo pondered, Yin Si and Annie’s voices sounded outside. Ye Mo’s spirit sense detected them, and an old man behind Annie—her father. Their backpacks indicated their willingness to leave.
Ye Mo took a closer look. Long-term drinking had made Annie’s father shabby and dull. Ye Mo sighed, not telling him the person who’d sought him out was dead.
The Yin siblings possessed few belongings and packed quickly. They hurriedly bid their neighbors farewell, giving them unwanted items before leaving with Ye Mo.
Ye Mo took them to Shi Kaigen, instructing him to send the group to Flowing Snake. Yin Si and Yin Jia hadn’t expected to return to China. Even Annie’s father said, “I can finally go home.”
…
After Shi Kaigen and his associates left, Sha One said, “Qianbei, hundreds of millions of dollars vanished from US banks overnight, shocking the country. I heard that…”
“Heard what?” Ye Mo looked at Sha One, sensing his worry and suspicion.
Sha One said quickly, “All US banks have new surveillance systems. Secret bases have also tightened security.”
Change in surveillance systems? Ye Mo frowned. Could they see through his invisibility?
“Any other news?” Ye Mo thought of the thousands of tons of gold. Surely, they’d discovered it.
Sha One shook his head. “No. They only found the missing money and suspect an inside job. No outsider could take that much unnoticed.”
Ye Mo knew the US must have found the gold but hadn’t announced it.
Ye Mo fell silent. After a while, he said, “Find some of the latest surveillance cameras and install them in a room. I want to see the effects.”
Sha One quickly returned with three surveillance cameras. “Only civilian models, but the newest. They use ray divergence. I’ll need time for military versions.”
Ye Mo nodded. “The civilian version is fine. Set them up.”
Twenty minutes later, Ye Mo emerged with a stern face. US technology was potent. Civilian cameras clearly showed his shadow! Military ones would be far stronger.
The only possibility was they already possessed such cameras but hadn’t used them until now. But why?
Seeing Ye Mo’s face, Sha One confirmed his suspicion that Ye Mo had robbed the bank. Though calm, his heart was troubled. Ye Mo took hundreds of millions in cash unnoticed? How much power and skill did that require? No wonder he wanted those weapon blueprints.
Ye Mo knew he might have missed an opportunity. If weapon merchants also used the new cameras, he might not get the blueprints. But he still needed to test it.
Thor’s, a major US contractor, was headquartered in Lexington, Massachusetts. Their famous product was the Patriot missile. The US Mobility Corporation’s HQ was in Virginia, the creator of the Virginian nuclear sub, and home to Northrop Grumman (B-2 bomber) and Lockheed Martin (F-22 and F-35).
‘What a pity,’ Ye Mo sighed. Two days, and the US reacted this quickly?
“Any other news?” Ye Mo felt he’d only received bad news.
Sha One knew what Ye Mo wanted. “Websites say the new cameras use special ray convergence and divergence to capture the unseen. The US hid the technology because they invented it and didn’t want early exposure. Now, military radar and surveillance will use it. Applying it to radar detects intruders instantly.”
So that was it. Ye Mo understood; his planned destinations would be full of traps. Even if they couldn’t capture him, they could capture his image.
Ye Mo wasn’t afraid of traps, but he couldn’t expose himself. Doing so might trigger a full-scale US attack on Luo Yue.
He could only return, cultivate, and wait for Luo Yue’s technological advancement. But he had to check if they’d truly upgraded their radar systems.
Failure to discover this would be bad.
Only when his power reached a certain level could he act as he wished and crush them. To Ye Mo, that time didn’t seem far off.
