Chapter 585: Treat to a Meal

It was Ye Mo’s second visit to Tan Du University. The first time, he had annihilated Nie Wubian of the Nine Moon Sect. Unsure if the university remained the same, he walked confidently onto the campus. The guards didn't stop him; the constant flow of students suggested a change from his previous visit—the domineering guards were gone.
“Magical Doctor Ye? Tang Beiwei’s older brother!” a crisp voice interrupted his thoughts.
He turned to see a girl of average looks.
“Yuanyuan?” he remembered. She had lent him her phone, only to have her legs broken by Qian He, before he saved her.
“Yup, it’s me, Brother Ye. You’re here for Beiwei, right? I never expected to see you again. Beiwei was just saying yesterday how long it’s been,” Chong Yuanyuan said.
Happy to see a familiar face, Ye Mo replied, “Yeah, I came to find Beiwei. Where is she?”
“Beiwei went with us to a student gathering at Xi Long Restaurant. She met someone she knew and left early. She’ll be back to my place tonight. Brother Ye, why don’t you wait here? I promised to treat you to dinner, and today’s the day,” Chong Yuanyuan said.
“Beiwei’s coming back tonight? Her phone’s off,” Ye Mo said, though he wasn’t overly worried.
Chong Yuanyuan immediately responded, “Probably ran out of battery. It was almost dead when we left. Don’t worry, she’ll be back tonight.”
“Do you know who she met?” Ye Mo knew Beiwei didn’t have many acquaintances.
Chong Yuanyuan shook her head. “I only saw his back—a middle-aged man.”
A middle-aged man? Ye Mo frowned.
“Brother Ye, let’s eat. Beiwei should be back by then,” Chong Yuanyuan said, wanting to ease his concerns.
“Okay, let’s go to Xi Long Restaurant,” Ye Mo nodded.
He didn’t know when he’d return after this trip, if he found the pocket world entrance, so he needed to speak with Beiwei. He hoped she’d move to Luo Yue.
Chong Yuanyuan smiled slyly. “Brother Ye, let’s splurge—Golden Pearl. It’s not the fanciest, but the most expensive in Tan Du. The food’s amazing. I’ve always wanted to go, and now I have a reason. You can’t refuse! If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t even be able to walk today.”
Seeing her sincerity, Ye Mo said, “Okay. You’re working now, right?”
Chong Yuanyuan nodded. “Yes, and it’s because of you. Remember Hu Yang, the Tan Kang Hospital director? He wanted to curry favor, so he got me a job at Tan Du University. I’m a teacher now.”
Seeing his hesitation, she added, “Brother Ye, don’t worry. Beiwei will call me as soon as she gets back.”
“Alright, let’s go to Golden Pearl.” Ye Mo knew he had no choice but to follow her. He’d waited over an hour and Chong Yuanyuan was his only lead.
Golden Pearl, despite being just a restaurant, was the most expensive in Hu Zhong Province. It was packed.
Chong Yuanyuan’s classmate worked there, securing them a private room.
The car park overflowed with luxury cars. Chong Yuanyuan’s Toyota stood out.
She didn’t mind. She was unfazed by material things. Ye Mo cared even less; he traveled by flying sword.
As they exited, a Bentley roared to a stop beside them.
A young, gentlemanly man and a curvaceous woman in her twenties emerged. Her clothes, though loose, couldn't hide her figure. She had a pretty face, and could have been even more striking with bolder attire. Besides an expensive pearl necklace, she appeared ordinary.
Ye Mo estimated the necklace at several million. The pearls were large and appeared natural. Yet, even with her beauty, she was no Ning Qingxue, in his opinion.
Chong Yuanyuan felt self-conscious beside her—only Tang Beiwei compared, in her eyes.
Ye Mo scanned them both and said to Chong Yuanyuan, “Yuan Yuan, let’s go.”
“Yes, let’s feast!” Chong Yuanyuan said, eager to eat.
The couple eyed them strangely, but Chong Yuanyuan ignored them. She was outgoing.
As they entered, the man smiled, “An Ning, they say this is the best in Hu Zhong Province. It’s my first time too, so I hope you enjoy it.”
The woman nodded. “Thank you. Any place is fine; we didn’t need Golden Pearl.”
An Ning watched Ye Mo’s back, thinking, ‘He doesn’t seem ordinary. There’s something about him. He can’t be average, but his girlfriend looks plain, and their car is ordinary, as are his clothes.’
But her main observation was his casual glance at her, like she was just another person.
