Chapter 602: Second Sneaky Attack

Ye Mo, too excited and heavily injured, collapsed upon seeing Luo Ying. The woman, quite angry, saw him faint and rushed to check his injuries. She immediately suspected it was her fault. Though she didn't know the man, she felt they'd met before. He had been touching the stone poolโa meaning only she and Ye Mo knew. Was this man Ye Mo? Dazed, she recalled his eyes; they were strikingly similar to Ye Mo's. Could it be him?
She unveiled her mask, revealing a breathtaking faceโLuo Ying, the woman Ye Mo had sought for so long. She carefully examined the unconscious man. He didn't look familiar. Feeling his face, she found no signs of disguise. Perhaps she was mistaken?
Disappointed, she carried Ye Mo out, applied herbs to his wounds, made soup, and fed him. His strong physique, honed by years of cultivation, should ensure his recovery. Though his dantian was damaged and he was heavily wounded, his body still absorbed most of the herbs' effects.
He opened his eyes, still in the room, his wounds significantly better. Luo Ying had saved him! Had she recognized him?
Shocked, Ye Mo leaped up, searching for Luo Ying. He'd found her, and wouldn't lose her again. He saw her outside, building a small hut, a cauldron of herbs nearby. He smiled bitterly; she planned to move him once he awoke.
He was Ye Mo! He had to tell her. Though he couldn't speak or hear, he could write. He crawled up. Other than hunger, he felt much better. Even without special means to recover his dantian and spirit sense, he could regain normal function.
Standing at the door, he gazed dazedly at Luo Ying's back, unable to believe it was real. Watching her slim figure bustle about was a peaceful scene he dared not disturb, fearing it would vanish.
Suddenly, Ye Mo shivered. Jie Xuan's cruel eyes stared at him like a ghost. Cold sweat drenched him; he regretted coming. He'd brought disaster to Luo Ying; the nun had found him. She'd likely realized he had nowhere else to go.
Jie Xuan smiled coldly at Ye Mo, then at Luo Ying, her smile cruel and frosty. She hated Luo Ying, probably for saving him and ruining her plans. He wanted to warn Luo Ying, but couldn't make a sound.
Jie Xuan's whisk flew. Ye Mo, without thinking, ran in front of Luo Ying. Reactingโa yellow-level cultivatorโshe subconsciously stepped back. He didn't fully shield her, but the whisk landed on his back. He couldn't block it. Ye Mo spat blood; the strike had severely injured his organs.
Seeing him fall and the nun behind him, Luo Ying understood the nun had attacked her, and the man had shielded her.
"Who are you? Why are you attacking us?" Luo Ying's voice boomed; she was furious. Serenity's members wouldn't attack strangers. She didn't even know the nun.
"You shouldn't have saved him; you'll die too," Jie Xuan's tone was bland, chillingly reasonable.
But Jie Xuan didn't attack Luo Ying. She moved toward Ye Mo, intending to search him. Luo Ying attacked with a yellow rope.
"HmmโYou've also learned ancient martial arts," the nun dodged.
"Leave! I won't let you touch him," Luo Ying hissed.
"Then I'll deal with you first. Finding a woman like you here is unusual." She attacked again.
Though she held back, she underestimated Luo Ying, who, while barely yellow-level, was almost as strong, or even slightly stronger, and more skilled. Luo Ying, inexperienced, initially retreated, but her skills improved, shifting the balance of power.
Jie Xuan knew her inner qi was insufficient. She couldn't comprehend such a woman being here.
"You don't even know him! Let me take him, and I'll give you an earth-level cultivation method and a black rising pill."
Unable to win, Jie Xuan tried a different tactic. She'd take Ye Mo, then return after recovering.
Luo Ying continued attacking, unaware it was Ye Mo. Had she known, she would've killed Jie Xuan.
Ignoring her, Jie Xuan snapped, "What do you want? He took my poison; he has 49 days to live! Let me take him, or he'll die."
Luo Ying slowed her attack. Ye Mo opened his eyes, his body burning with pain. He knew this wouldn't end well.
Jie Xuan lowered her whisk, Luo Ying her rope, but Ye Mo was worried. The nun had a dagger; her withdrawal wasn't peace, but a setup. Luo Ying, inexperienced, didn't know this.
Whether or not Jie Xuan attacked, in desperation, Ye Mo stood and ran to Luo Ying. No one would harm her. History repeated itself; Jie Xuan attacked, but Ye Mo was faster.
