Chapter 606: Two Lifetimes Translator: Timothy_ Editor: GlobeGlotter
Time flies when you’re happy. They’d been married for almost ten days. Ye Mo sensed Luo Ying’s constant, faint worry, but he didn’t want to disrupt their peaceful life, so he didn’t ask. But today, something felt wrong.
“I want to find mountain herbs that might heal you,” she said, noticing his awareness of her unease.
“Are you thinking of Jie Xuan, the nun? Do you think she has a cure?” Ye Mo asked.
By now, they barely needed words. A look, a touch—they understood each other perfectly.
Luo Ying was dazed, comprehending his unspoken disapproval of her plan. “But—you’re poisoned. I—okay. I won’t go. I’ll stay with you,” she said, approaching to brush his hair. She knew he didn’t want her to leave.
She wanted to say they had little more than ten days left, a time that felt far too short. She wanted to be with Ye Mo forever.
Ye Mo embraced her. “Dumby, my poison isn’t fatal. I just can’t speak or hear. Once you reach stage one, you can cure me.”
“What? It’s not lethal?!” Luo Ying was stunned. Suddenly, fortune favored her. Unsure she’d read his lips correctly, she asked again.
“If you reach stage one, you can cure me,” Ye Mo repeated, wiping away her tears.
Luo Ying hugged him tightly, overjoyed. After a while, she looked up, exclaiming, “I’m already at stage one! I—”
She wanted to know how she could cure him, but couldn’t find the words.
Ye Mo was shocked. He hadn’t expected her to reach stage one in less than half a month. Even considering the spirit stone, her skill was remarkable. He quickly produced pen and paper, writing instructions on releasing spirit sense and retrieving items from the storage ring.
Holding the bottle of lotus life pills, he felt an unprecedented calm. For the first time, everything else paled beside Luo Ying. The paradise of the past ten days had almost made him forget the poison.
With her help, he took a pill. It dissolved instantly, a spring of energy nourishing his organs and dantian. The damaged dantian repaired rapidly.
Luo Ying watched, anxious, unable to leave his side, even ignoring the boiling water. Her heart pounded. His recovery meant forever together.
The Bin Shi Grass poison wasn't directly affected by the lotus life pill; his own chi expelled it. His external injuries, already healed under Luo Ying’s care, were now joined by his internal injuries' recovery. Chi gathered, his power returning to its original state.
Luo Ying saw white mist rising from his head, tinged with black chi—the expelled poison. Joy threatened to overwhelm her. She thanked the heavens for Ye Mo’s safety.
A day passed quickly. When Ye Mo opened his eyes, it was dark. Luo Ying sat before him, her gaze unwavering. He knew she’d watched him all day, worried.
“Susu, sorry to worry you,” Ye Mo said, gently cuddling her.
She cried in his arms, the ordeal finally over. She could hear his voice; he was well.
“I thank the heavens you’re alright!” she said fervently.
Ye Mo kissed her. “I should thank you, it’s you—”
Luo Ying placed a finger on his lips, pointing at the crescent moon. “We married under a full moon. I loved it then, but I love it even more tonight.”
“Then, I’ll take you to see the moon,” he said.
“En!”
…
“Wow! We’re really in the sky!” Luo Ying exclaimed. The sensation was familiar yet unimaginable.
“En! We’re in the sky. Susu, in my past-life dreams, you were my master, taking me flying like this. In this life, I’ll take you. In a past life, you taught me everything; in this life, let me care for you, give you everything,” Ye Mo said. His words resonated deeply within Luo Ying.
She murmured, “Past life, this life. Was there really a past life? I dream of flying, too. Was that real?”
She caressed his face, fearing it was a dream, but he was solid, real. The village below was peaceful as they soared through the dark sky. He whispered everything about his cultivation, and what happened after she left.
Back in their room, a sense of familiarity washed over Ye Mo. It felt as if she truly had taught him cultivation in a past life; alchemy, medicine, language.
“Susu, where did you go after leaving Serenity? When I went to the desert, you’d already taken the stone pool,” Ye Mo asked.
Luo Ying touched his hair. “When did you start liking me? Was it the past-life memories? Do you like the me from my past life, or this one?”
Ye Mo looked into her bright eyes. “Perhaps it wasn’t a dream. When you were my master, I respected and loved you, but dared not desecrate you. When I realized it was love, it was too late. Not until the desert, when you saved me, when you woke me with your blood.”
“En, same. When you carried me from the desert bugs, hid me in the caves, I knew I couldn’t forget you—my blood was in you. When you gave me that water, I fell in love. When you chased me to Serenity, climbed the sword mountain, I knew I couldn’t be without you.”
“I went everywhere, lost. I wanted to secretly visit, but feared I couldn't leave. Then, Aunty Xi brought me here. I stayed at the village’s highest point, hoping to see you. I’d stand there an hour each day, searching. Eventually, unable to bear my longing, I went to the desert and retrieved the stone pool.”
