Ye Mo saw they were at the gate of Jing City University and guessed it was where her brother was studying.

“Xiao Wu, why are you fighting someone again?” Xu Wei went to help the blood-covered Xu Bingwu up.

The young man said hatefully, “I wasn’t fighting.”

He stopped speaking when he saw Ye Mo approaching.

Ye Mo examined the young man. His injuries were serious-looking but superficial; the profuse bleeding was from a head wound.

“Ye Mo, this is my brother, Xu Bingwu. Xu Wei, this is my friend; call him Brother Ye,” Xu Wei said softly to Ye Mo, but spoke seriously to her brother. She simultaneously covered his head with a cloth.

Xu Bingwu studied Ye Mo, who didn’t look impressive. He frowned, glanced at Xu Wei, and mumbled, “Brother Ye.” He seemed afraid of Xu Wei.

“What’s going on?” Xu Wei asked.

Xu Bingwu hesitated. “I was just released from the police station. I was worried about Mom, so I came to the university. On the way, a classmate offered me a ride.”

“Mom’s in the hospital. Why come to the university? And how did you get into a fight after your classmate brought you here?” Xu Wei reproached.

Xu Bingwu looked down. “I have money in my room. I wanted to buy bones to make soup for Mom. And Sister, I don’t want to keep studying; I want a job.”

Xu Wei’s eyes reddened. She patted Xu Bingwu’s head. “I’ll take care of Mom. Don’t say that again. Study hard, and stay out of fights.”

“I didn’t start a fight. My friend dropped me off, but her friend saw us. He thought there was something between us and attacked me,” Xu Bingwu said.

Xu Wei’s face flushed with anger. “Those people are shameless! Why didn’t your classmate explain?”

“She dropped me off and went inside; she didn’t see anything,” Xu Bingwu said.

“Then couldn’t you explain—” Xu Wei stopped. She knew she couldn’t blame her brother—men needed to save face. And judging by Xu Bingwu’s actions, he might have been interested in his classmate.

She sighed. “Okay, let’s get you patched up and then get something to eat. Don’t worry about us. I’ve earned some money; just focus on studying.”

She then laughed awkwardly at Ye Mo.

Three young men emerged from a supermarket. “Punk, you haven’t left yet? If I see you talking to Xiao Yin again, I’ll break your mouth.”

Seeing her brother wouldn’t be left alone, Xu Wei was about to intervene when someone said, “Wei Qian, what do you mean?”

Ye Mo looked at the speaker—the annoying Xiao Yin from the plane. He’d cured her mother, but she’d called him a fraud.

“Did you hit Xu Bingwu? Wei Qian, how shameless! So what if I talk to my classmate? Who are you? Do you think I can’t live without your support? You piece of trash!” Wei Qian was speechless.

Xiao Yin called the police.

The young man’s expression soured, but he didn’t dare object. He knew she was right; the Shen family could easily destroy a jewelry merchant’s son.

“Don’t call me that.” After ending the call, she said to Xu Bingwu, “Sorry, I just wanted to help. I didn’t expect you to meet scum like him.”

“It’s fine. Shen Yin, this is my sister, Xu Wei, and her friend, Ye Mo,” Xu Bingwu said, pointing. He was uneasy around Shen Yin.

Shen Yin studied Ye Mo intently.

Xu Wei and Xu Bingwu stared strangely at Shen Yin. Ye Mo looked ferocious and unattractive; why was Shen Yin so interested?

Xu Bingwu felt bitter. He was better-looking and younger than Ye Mo. Why had Shen Yin noticed Ye Mo immediately?

“Are you really called Ye Mo?” Shen Yin suddenly asked after studying him. She looked at his eyes, then seemed surprised and joyful.

He realized she recognized him but wasn’t sure due to his changed appearance.

Though he disliked her, Ye Mo nodded silently.

Shen Yin’s gaze made Xu Wei uncomfortable; it was as though she was trying to see through him.

“Ye Mo, Xiao Wu, let’s go. I need to see Mom,” Xu Wei said.

Xu Bingwu said, “Sister, how’s Mom? I’m worried.”

Seeing his desperate eyes, she said, “Xiao Wu, don’t worry. Mom will be out soon. Brother Ye will treat her; his medical skills are excellent.”

“Oh, Brother Ye’s a doctor,” Xu Bingwu breathed a sigh of relief. He’d thought his sister had found a sugar daddy.

Shen Yin’s eyes brightened. She walked to Ye Mo. “Are you really a doctor?”

Ye Mo sneered but remained silent.

“My uncle’s been bedridden for six months. I want you to see him, Magical Doctor Ye,” Shen Yin said hesitantly.

Ye Mo saw her intention. Disgust flashed in his eyes. He waved his hand. “Move aside. I don’t want your family’s money.”

“Huh—It really is you, Magical Doctor Ye. I’m sorry; I was blind last time and suspected you were a fraud.” Shen Yin knelt, holding his leg.

Ye Mo pushed her away. “I’ll repeat it: your family’s business is none of my concern. I won’t help, no matter what. Your family’s money is insignificant, and wouldn’t cover the medical bills.”

Everyone was shocked. They knew Shen Yin was from the Shen family; no one dared offend them in Jin City. Yet, she’d knelt to this man, who remained indifferent. Most shocking was his claim that the Shen family couldn’t afford the medical bills.

Unexpectedly, Shen Yin said, “Sorry, Doctor Ye. I’m grateful you saved my mother, Qingkui. I’m not asking you to treat my uncle.”

Her apology slightly changed Ye Mo’s view of her.
