Chapter 646: Yan Riverbank

Seeing Ye Mo speaking with Du Tao and ignoring him, Qiu Zhixue persevered, asking, “Young Master Mo, do you require my assistance? If not, I—”

Even Du Tao paused. While Qiu Zhixue respected his status, it paled in comparison to the Qiu family's influence, making Qiu Zhixue's question unavoidable.

Ye Mo glanced at Qiu Zhixue and said, “I heard Li Qiuyang is being targeted by the Qiu and Dai families. He’s facing jail time, is that right?”

Qiu Zhixue was stunned. Ye Mo's intervention jeopardized their families’ assured victory. He was a reckless madman supported by the President, the Han family, and even the declining Zhang family.

Forced to answer, Qiu Zhixue quickly replied, “That’s not true. I’m close to Brother Qiuyang; he’s merely assisting with an investigation. He’ll be fine.”

Ye Mo, wanting no part in their conflict, stated plainly, “Li Qiuyang has helped me considerably. I’m uninterested in your affairs, but I won’t tolerate anything happening to him. Let me be clear: my patience is limited. If I don’t hear good news soon, I will visit your family.”

This was a blatant threat. Ye Mo demanded Li Qiuyang's release without knowing the details. Li Qiuyang, a Li family elite with comparable status, was essentially being used as a pawn. Fortunately, Ye Mo disclaimed interest in their internal struggles.

Though Qiu Zhixue wanted to dismiss Ye Mo's concerns, claiming it was none of his business, he dared not.

“Yes, I’ll inform them,” Qiu Zhixue said, suppressing his anger. He wondered if the combined Dai and Qiu families could withstand Ye Mo.

Du Tao remained uninvolved, recognizing this as a Dai and Qiu family matter. Only Ye Mo possessed the audacity to intervene; others wouldn't dare.

Reprimanded, Qiu Zhixue lacked the face to remain. He departed without farewell to Wang Xu.

Xiao Lei stared at Ye Mo, speechless. The gathering had barely begun, and Ye Mo had already dismissed four people.

Ye Mo smiled, greeted acquaintances, and left with Luo Ying.

Witnessing their departure, Su Mei recovered. Hesitantly, she asked Xiao Lei, “Journalist Xiao, why is Ye Mo… so…?”

Xiao Lei, now bored, rose and smiled faintly at Su Mei, offering no response. Su Mei's previous attitude toward Ye Mo soured her interest in further conversation.

“Susu, after attending to some matters, we’ll return to Luo Yue and settle there permanently,” Ye Mo said to Luo Ying, guilt evident in his voice. He knew she desired peace, yet his actions constantly worried her.

Luo Ying smiled, remaining silent, drawing closer to Ye Mo. After a pause, she asked, “Tell me about her. Qingxue, or that other girl?”

Ye Mo was startled, subconsciously asking, “Which other girl?”

“Then, Qingxue?” Luo Ying’s voice trailed off. While unrelated by blood, she was Qingxue’s aunt.

She’d only briefly glanced at Qingxue, noting her beauty.

“Sorry, Susu, I—” Ye Mo struggled to explain. He understood ‘that girl’ referred to Chi Wanqing.

Seeing Ye Mo’s guilt, Luo Ying smiled, taking his hand. “Don’t apologize. As long as I’m with you, I don’t mind. And if Qingxue loves you, I believe she won’t mind either.”

Ye Mo embraced Luo Ying, relieved. He knew Luo Ying's acceptance stemmed from her lingering memories of the Luo Ying Continent.

“Susu, I’ll tell you about Qingxue.”

“En.”

Ye Mo recounted the events as they strolled along the Yan Riverbank.

Upon hearing the full story, Luo Ying’s eyes welled. She wholeheartedly accepted Ning Qingxue, surprised by her resilience and unwavering devotion. Without Luo Ying, Ye Mo might have perished at Shen Nong Jia.

Ye Mo tightened his embrace, consoling her. They paused by the riverbank.

An animal’s howl startled them.

Luo Ying stroked Ye Mo’s hair, softly asking, “Should we go back?”

Ye Mo smiled. “Wait. Something’s happening tonight. It might get bloody. I’ll take you to the hotel and return later.”

Luo Ying shook her head. “No, I’ll go with you.”

“Okay.” Ye Mo didn’t argue. Certain things were unavoidable in life, regardless of memory recovery.

“Susu, did you look at the diary I gave you?” The diary held the key to her memories.

Luo Ying replied quietly, “Not yet. I’m still learning the Luo Yue words. I’ll read it afterward.”

“Okay, tell me when you’re finished,” Ye Mo said, a smirk on his face. Luo Ying blushed. While eager to read it, she feared her poor comprehension might spoil the moment.

As she leaned in to kiss him, he said, “They’re here. Let’s observe from a distance.”

As they moved aside, four figures gathered. Dai Yong was absent. All carried firearms; Captain Liu even possessed two. Lu Lin, bound and gagged, was the unsettling detail. Their previous camaraderie made this inexplicable. Ye Mo knew Lu Lin wasn’t feigning captivity.

Ye Mo extended his spiritual sense, then froze. The scarred woman approached, concealing several throwing knives.
