The two ate in silence. Sister Yan seemed reluctant to speak, and Ye Mo was unsure what to say.
On their way back to their room, Ye Mo, eager to leave the ship after Luo Yue's war, broke the silence. “Sister Yan, why don’t we pack our things and go back together?”
Sister Yan stared at him, shocked. “The ship is still at sea. How do you propose we return? Do you mean my old room?” Her expression was unhappy.
Ye Mo quickly waved his hand. “No, Sister Yan. Didn’t you see me make the flying sword? I can fly us back.”
Ten minutes later, Sister Yan clung tightly to Ye Mo’s arm, standing on the flying sword. She still couldn’t believe he could fly—it was absurd!
Seeing Sister Yan’s silence, Ye Mo asked, “Sister Yan, will you come to Luo Yue with me?”
“Huh?” Sister Yan realized his intention.
She stopped him. “Take me to Beijing first. I need to attend to some matters. Afterward, I’ll join you.”
Though Ye Mo longed to go straight to Luo Yue, he complied. Sister Yan, though at the yellow level middle stage, still concerned him. Seeing her eagerness, he offered, “Sister Yan, let me help you with your things, and then we can go to Luo Yue together.”
Sister Yan finally calmed down. She adjusted his collar and said calmly, “I want to go alone. Don’t worry. You’ve already given me the pill. I’ll try to improve my power. Eventually, I’ll find you. Are Yin Jia and Yin Si alright?”
“They’re doing very well in Luo Yue. You can see for yourself if you come.” Ye Mo still hoped she would accompany him.
Sister Yan’s eyes glistened. Only she knew that besides her business, she simply didn’t want to stay with Ye Mo. She shook her head, then said after a moment, “When I remember my mirror and sky-blue blanket, I regret leaving them behind.”
Ye Mo produced a folded blanket and a mirror. “Sister Yan, are these them?”
“Huh, you brought them?” Sister Yan joyfully touched the blanket, embracing Ye Mo tearfully.
After a long while, Sister Yan pushed him away, producing a diary. She placed it in Ye Mo’s hands. “I’m going. Here’s the diary. Keep the blanket and mirror, and read the diary after a few years.” Then, she turned and left, disappearing from view.
Ye Mo felt a sense of loss. He wondered when, or if, he’d see her again.
After Sister Yan departed, Ye Mo sensed Beijing University with his spirit sense.
He was so close! Ye Mo put away the items. Though curious about the diary, he respected Sister Yan’s wishes and decided to wait.
Being there, Ye Mo decided to check on Dongfang Wang. He suspected Dongfang Tang was behind recent events, and intended to investigate both Dongfang Tang and his whereabouts.
Ye Mo searched the university for a long time using his spirit sense, but found no sign of Dongfang Wang. He saw Chen Guang, Fu Li, and even An Zhiqi, but not Dongfang Wang.
Though Dongfang Wang claimed no connection to his brothers, even hating them, Ye Mo remained uneasy. He had to admit all three brothers were exceptionally clever and calculating.
Ye Mo mused, ‘If Dongfang Tang joined Northern Sand and orchestrated this, then Dongfang Xi and Dongfang Tang have both joined powerful military factions. Is this related to Xi Tang?’
Finding Dongfang Wang absent, Ye Mo entered the dining hall. Chen Guang, Fu Li, and An Zhiqi were eating. Ye Mo approached them to inquire about Dongfang Wang.
Chen Guang sat with Fu Li, while An Zhiqi, though alone, was surrounded by many men obviously trying to attract her attention.
Ye Mo sat opposite An Zhiqi. The men glared at him. They wouldn’t dare sit there; who did he think he was?
“It’s you?” An Zhiqi nearly dropped her noodles upon seeing Ye Mo. Chen Guang and Fu Li also stared in shock, puzzled by his presence.
“Yes, and I have a question. Where’s Dongfang Wang? I can’t find him,” Ye Mo said, wanting to avoid wasting time.
Chen Guang replied, “After returning, Dongfang Wang went home and asked me to request a leave for him. He hasn’t returned since.”
“He doesn’t live in the dorms?” Ye Mo asked, wondering if Dongfang Wang had anticipated his arrival and left.
Chen Guang nodded. “No, he lives near the Yan River. His family is there.”
“Dongfang Wang’s family lives in Beijing?” Ye Mo was surprised. Dongfang Wang had previously mentioned his home in Xi Tang. Why Beijing? Besides, Ye Mo had been to the Yan River area multiple times, knowing it was a slum.
“I don’t know. I only know he lives with his mother near the Yan River. His mother is from Beijing,” Chen Guang said.
“Can you tell me where Dongfang Wang lives?” Ye Mo felt Dongfang Wang was far more complex than he appeared. If he had truly predicted Ye Mo’s arrival, it was astonishing.
Before Chen Guang could answer, An Zhiqi interjected, “I can take you there.”
“Okay, thank you,” Ye Mo said.
Fu Li muttered, “What’s with Zhiqi? Why offer to take a stranger to the Yan River? Besides, when has she been to Dongfang Wang’s home? I don’t know.”
Chen Guang shook his head, equally puzzled.
“What do you do? Why were you in Antarctica that day? How could you wear so little clothing? Weren’t you cold?” An Zhiqi immediately asked.
Ye Mo hesitated, but since An Zhiqi offered help, he said, “I told you last time I’m a mountain climber.”
Seeing her disbelief, he sighed, “If you don’t believe me, what can I do? Anyway, do you often go to Dongfang Wang’s home? What do you know about him?”
An Zhiqi looked at him speechlessly. He hadn’t answered her questions, yet asked many of his own.
“Before I answer, tell me your name,” An Zhiqi said, sensing Ye Mo was no ordinary person.
“I’m Ye Mo.” Ye Mo just wanted her to take him to Dongfang Wang.
An Zhiqi smiled. “Okay, Brother Ye. I’ve never been to Dongfang Wang’s house. But I do know a secret of his.”
