Chapter 694: Amazing Grab

Translator: Timothy_ Editor: GlobeGlotter

Ye Mo, hailing from the cultivation realm, recognized the situation immediately. It was either a teleportation formation or a cleverly concealed spatial formation. This wasn't normal suction; he hadn't entered by conventional means. If it were a spatial formation, he might have been torn apart.

This thought made Ye Mo break into a sweat. He immediately used his chi for protection, knowing that if it truly was a spatial formation, his chi wouldn't last half a breath.

Even without mobilizing his chi, it ruptured within his body, surging toward his organs and meridians. In a fraction of a second, it was sucked away, and his meridians began to crack.

If he hadn't significantly increased the tenacity of his meridians' width previously, Ye Mo suspected they wouldn't have withstood the pull. Even so, if this continued, he'd be torn apart the next second.

Bangโ€” Just as despair set in, the pulling force vanished, and he plummeted from the sky. The impact sent him spitting mouthfuls of blood.

He wasn't dead? Ye Mo's first reaction was to check for Jie Xun, anticipating a sneak attack. However, Jie Xun was nowhere to be found. He was on a barren road.

Reassured, Ye Mo examined his body. He had no remaining chi, and gashes covered his body. He cursed. Jie Xun had undoubtedly used unconventional means to open the formation, causing a unique compression. Luckily, the space hadn't intertwined, or he would have been torn to pieces.

Ye Mo instinctively reached for a Lotus Life Pill, but the bottle was empty. He'd taken the last one while fighting Jie Xun.

Ye Mo's heart sank. This was the legendary inner hidden sects' realm, and he was powerless.

He had four Snow Lotus Seeds, but they were useless without supplementary herbs to refine them into pills. Even if he could, he couldn't make Lotus Life Pills before recovering his chi. Fortunately, he had the lotus flower. While eating it raw was wasteful, regaining his strength was paramount.

He plucked a petal and ate it. Then, he looked at what remained in his hand: a red belly vest. Ye Mo was stunned.

Jie Xun, older than Jing Xi, wore such a vest. She seemed like a kinky old woman.

Ye Mo examined the vest. A pocket held a faint golden lightโ€”the golden page he'd been searching for!

"Haha!" Ye Mo erupted in laughter, his earlier misery forgotten. What an amazing grab!

He imagined Jie Xun's face upon discovering not only her exposed body but also the loss of the golden page. He was highly satisfied.

His laughter subsided, replaced by apprehension. He knew little about this small world. If it were small and contained only hidden sects, wouldn't he be found quickly? And if Jie Xun discovered the missing page, would she alert everyone?

He calmed himself. First, he needed to recover his strength, then plan. He sought a place to rest and recover after consuming the lotus petal. The facial wounds were less important; scars from the exploding whisk were easily removed with a face-preserving pill.

He decided to leave the scars and take the pill after leaving the small world.

Before he could move, his spirit sense detected an approaching cart. Without hesitation, Ye Mo stowed his belongings and moved to the roadside.

If he weren't so injured and depleted of chi, he wouldn't avoid strangers. His weakness slowed him. By the time he reached the roadside, the cart and its escort arrived.

"Why the halt? What's happening?" a gruff voice boomed from the carriage.

A guard rushed to the carriage. "Young Miss, a heavily injured man is by the road. He's moving slowly. We must wait for him to pass."

"Oh, let me see." The blind was drawn aside, revealing a pretty face.

Something felt amiss. Horse-drawn carts and guards? Had he transmigrated to the past?

He'd thought it was just a small world. Even with technological differences, it shouldn't be this vast. The inner hidden sects' members could travel outside, yet the dirty road and horse-drawn carriages were incongruous with the modern world.

The girl wasn't unattractive, perhaps on par with An Zhiqi. Her raised eyebrows indicated authority and a strong willโ€”typical of a spoiled young miss. Ye Mo avoided her. He looked down and stepped back.

"Interesting," the young girl smiled. "Bring that person with us. Let him rest in the rear carriage."

She saw his blood-soaked, ravaged face, yet his lack of fear, then his downcast gaze, perhaps from self-consciousness. An idea struck her.

"Young Miss, we don't know this man. Should we really take him?" the guard hesitated.

She pulled out a handkerchief and dabbed her eyes. "Yes, look after him. Ask no questions."

She muttered, "His face is ruined," then lowered the blind.

The guard looked at Ye Mo, then at the young miss. Did she know him? He knew he must obey.

"What's your name? Where are you from? How were you injured?" the guard asked gruffly.

"Mo Ying. I'm a businessman, robbed," Ye Mo improvised.

"En." The guard seemed unconcerned.

"Come with us. Rest in our carriage. In town, someone will tend to your wounds," the guard said.

Ye Mo didn't want to go with them. "Thank you, but my injuries aren't that serious. Go on ahead; I can manage."
