Chapter 747: First Wave of Battle

Translator: Timothy_ Editor: GlobeGlotter

Ye Mo rejoiced he had sent Mu Xiaoyun away. Had she remained, he could only have fled; with Len Quan and Ling Wushui, even that wouldn't have been possible.

But Ye Mo didn't want to run. They sought his life; they would pay the price.

Ye Mo's spirit sense was so strong that his flying sword moved freely, unimpeded. He drew a two-meter longsword and charged into the crowd.

Many were dazed; they hadn't seen the longsword appear.

Despite his potent spirit sense and his essence-filled sword deflecting most attacks, one or two still found their mark. But Ye Mo inflicted far greater damage. Knowing he couldn't quickly kill Len Quan and Ling Wushui, he focused on eliminating the others, while evading the two leaders.

Blood flowed, sword rays clashed. Several half-step Great Heaven cultivators fell, their heads severed and smashed to the ground. Soon, over thirty ancient martial artists lay dead, while Ye Mo sustained several wounds.

Len Quan and Ling Wushui, realizing the battle was evenly matched, intercepted Ye Mo, preventing his sword from decimating those below Great Heaven level. With their intervention, the situation stabilized. Len Quan, Ling Wushui, Qi Kai, and sixteen Great Heaven masters surrounded Ye Mo, fully engaging his attention. Meanwhile, half-step Great Heaven cultivators attempted flanking maneuvers. The Earth level cultivators had been largely eliminated, their survivors retreating to seal Ye Mo's escape route.

Ye Mo sneered. So what? He still had his flying sword.

"Kill!" Len Quan roared, swinging his axe.

Before Ye Mo could counter, Ling Wushui seized the opportunity, thrusting his sword.

Ye Mo sighed. Their lack of spirit sense was fortunate for him. Otherwise, survival would have been far more difficult. Their combat prowess matched a Chi Gathering Stage Nine cultivator, minus dao magic and spirit sense.

Ye Mo knew this coordinated assault would put him under even greater pressure than the earlier random attacks. Qi Kai yelled, "Sect Leader Qi, Elder Jin, attack with me!"

He recognized Ye Mo's momentum had been broken after the first wave. He would lead the second wave; if the others understood Len Quan's strategy, a third and fourth would follow.

Ye Mo's injuries were superficial, but he knew he would soon pay a heavier price. With this battle plan, no matter his cultivation essence, he couldn't last long.

A curved sword materialized in Ye Mo's hand; he threw it instantly, while his longsword blocked Ling Wushui's most threatening attack.

Clank—The curved sword blocked Len Quan's axe, shaking him. This was the second weapon to seemingly appear from nowhere.

The moment Ye Mo's longsword clashed with Ling Wushui's, his hand trembled. Ling Wushui's inner qi was formidable. Worse, the thrown curved sword, shattered by the axe, was a magic artifact, albeit one hastily made.

He had no time to dwell on it—he had to kill. His spirit sense guided his flying sword, slicing through the backs of several half-step Great Heaven attackers. Simultaneously, he retrieved his longsword and swung it at Qi Kai.

Ling Wushui admired Ye Mo's speed and strategy, but was shocked to see him attack Qi Kai. Was he suicidal?

Ling Wushui rejoiced and thrust again.

Ye Mo wasn't suicidal. As his longsword struck Qi Kai, his flying sword unleashed over ten fireballs. His spirit sense would be quickly depleted, but he disregarded that now.

Crack—Qi Kai's sword shattered, terrifying him. He tried to retreat, but a sword ray struck his forehead.

"So strong—this is his true power!" Qi Kai's heart trembled as darkness fell.

But Ye Mo didn't stop. He spun, slicing through Qi Kai's stomach toward Qi Youxin, bisecting him.

Splurge—Simultaneously, Ling Wushui's sword pierced Ye Mo's ribs.

Unfazed by the injury, Ye Mo's sword flew from his hand.

"Argh!" Screams of pain echoed as the fireballs forced the Great Heaven and half-step Great Heaven warriors into a huddled mass, sliced into pieces.

Ye Mo retrieved his flying sword and swallowed several pills. The simultaneous use of sword and flying sword was a one-time tactic.

The survivors stared in shock. In moments, eleven of the sixteen attacking Great Heaven masters remained; the twenty or so half-step Great Heavens were dead. Ye Mo had only suffered a single rib wound.

"You—you—" A Great Heaven cultivator, unable to bear the carnage, fled.

Ye Mo sneered, another curved sword materializing in his hand. It whistled through the air, piercing the fleeing cultivator's back. He hadn't used his wind blades—a surprise he would save.

The Great Heaven master didn't die instantly, trembling in terror.

Ye Mo felt fatigue; he'd overexerted his spirit sense and cultivation essence. He was fortunate to have extreme essence pills to replenish his energy.

Len Quan's face was green, fear in his eyes. Seeing Ye Mo wasn't critically injured, he held back.

"I underestimated your strength, but I knew you weren't cultivating ancient martial arts."

Len Quan's words implied Ye Mo cultivated something stronger, fueling others' greed. Len Quan needed to boost morale; Ye Mo needed time to rest.
