Chapter 779: More Important Things

Realizing the danger, Ye Mo knew calling Xu Ping back immediately was pointless. He needed to check if Dongfang Wang had planted bombs in Luo Yue. If so, he had to disarm them before Dongfang Wang detonated them.

He immediately scanned his spirit sense, extending it underground. Luckily, its twenty-kilometer range easily penetrated the earth.

Soon, Ye Mo's expression darkened. He found bombs—timed, radioactive devices capable of killing thousands and utterly destroying Luo Yue. Dongfang Wang was truly sinister.

Ye Mo calmed himself. His safety measures had worked; Dongfang Wang needed to initiate detonation, and Ye Mo had cut the city's communications.

He left the meeting room, needing to disarm the bombs as quickly as possible. His powerful spirit sense swept the city, revealing a bomb roughly every kilometer, concentrated in densely populated areas.

Ye Mo was furious. These deeply hidden operatives had brought bloodshed to Luo Yue. He wouldn't be merciful.

The bombs' placement was bizarre: in trees, water, earth, roads, and walls. Only Ye Mo, knowing their locations, could find them all. A city insider's support was necessary for such placement, a project spanning days, if not weeks.

These were miniature nuclear devices, each incredibly expensive, showcasing Dongfang Wang's immense wealth. To create fission bombs, Ye Mo believed Dongfang Wang had collaborators. Ye Xing might have been involved, but Ye Mo doubted it, despite Ye Xing's whereabouts being unknown. The collaborator possessed at least Northern Sand's technological capabilities.

Even with Ye Mo's speed and spirit sense, disarming the fifty-nine bombs took half a day. He stored them in his golden page world, meticulously checking for more. His first priority was installing automatic bomb detectors and establishing a city-wide alert system. Only after receiving word from Xu Ping did he finally relax.

“Third Brother, we found Yang Jiu, Yu Miaodan's former follower. He betrayed us and killed several soldiers.”

Yang Jiu. Ye Mo remembered Yang Jiu and Han Zai, whom he'd taken in from Earth Fiend, even helping them remove their Gu bugs. Yet, upon his departure, Yang Jiu betrayed them. What of Han Zai?

“I’ll come,” Ye Mo said.

Yang Jiu was subdued, bound to a pole, his contempt evident. But upon seeing Ye Mo, horror flashed in his eyes. He hadn't expected Ye Mo's return. The pressure was palpable.

Even the soldiers in the square stood motionless, awestruck by Ye Mo's presence. Most hadn't seen him, but he was legendary, the creator of Luo Yue.

Ye Mo coldly asked, “When did I, or Luo Yue, mistreat you?”

“I—” Yang Jiu feared Ye Mo, unlike Xu Ping.

Xu Ping sneered, “Yang Jiu, didn’t you claim I wouldn’t dare kill you and that Luo Yue was under your master’s control?”

Yang Jiu looked up, fear minimal. “Yes. Ye Mo, you can’t kill me. If you do, Luo Yue falls.”

“Oh? Explain,” Xu Ping scoffed, unconcerned.

Fear returned to Yang Jiu's eyes. This young master was like a demon, capable of anything. He’d toppled Yu Miaodan, Guo Qi, and elevated Dong Tanzhen to Vice Citylord—all as promised.

Ye Mo saw through Yang Jiu's distraction, losing interest. “Where’s Han Zai? Did you capture Sister Yu?”

Shaken, Yang Jiu blurted, “I killed Han Zai and captured Yu Miaodan.”

Ye Mo waved his hand. “Kill him.”

“No! The young master said…,” Yang Jiu pleaded, but Ye Mo ignored him, leaving the square.

Back in the meeting room, Xu Yuehua had returned, Xu Ping still commanding outside. Yu Miaodan, Zang Jiayan, Huang Yinian, Guo Qi, Lu Lin, Fang Nan, Fang Wei, Shi Xiu, his wife, and even Air Force Commander Sherman were present—political prisoners, unharmed, though imprisoned.

Their relief at Ye Mo's return was palpable. They rose to greet him; his presence reassured them.

Ye Zifeng also arrived, realizing his foolishness in causing the imprisonment of so many. Without Ye Mo, Dongfang family control would have resulted in their deaths.

“Brother Zang, Sister Yu, Commander Huang, I owe you an apology. I’m ashamed to have let this happen in our home. It’s my fault,” Ye Mo said, apologizing for their imprisonment.

Xu Yuehua sighed, regretting her failure to prevent Yu Miaodan's capture. Yu Miaodan, though disappointed, accepted their apologies, recognizing her own idealistic naiveté.

Zang Jiayan stated, “Let’s focus on stabilizing Luo Yue.”

Ye Mo agreed, directing everyone back to their posts. He instructed Yuehua to restore communications and apologized, with Ye Zifeng also offering his regrets.

He asked Shi Xiu for assistance, valuing their friendship. But there was still a more important matter to attend to.
