Seeing their shocked expressions, Ye Mo waved, silencing them. “Don’t worry, I’ve found and dealt with the bombs. Starting today, we need a city-wide bomb defense system to prevent this from happening again.”
Reassured, everyone calmed down, rejoicing at Ye Mo's return. Otherwise, years of hard work would have been destroyed.
Ye Mo was also relieved. The absence of explosions in Luo Yue City indicated the bombs hadn't been planted, for reasons unknown.
He turned to Xu Yuehua. “Sister Yuehua, where did Ye Xing go? Did he leave on his own?”
Before she could answer, Ye Ling approached, presenting a letter. “Brother Ye Xing left of his own accord. This letter is for you; he asks you not to worry. I’ll tell you about Sister Luo Ying and Qingxue later.”
Ye Mo nodded. He yearned for news of them, but Luo Yue’s affairs demanded his immediate attention. Besides, with Luo Ying’s talent and years of cultivation, she was likely stronger than him now and in no real danger.
Without opening it, he scanned the letter with his spiritual sense. Two years after his departure, Ye Xing had fully recovered his memories, discovering his origins. Using Luo Yue’s resources, he’d built a spaceship within six years and left the country.
Ye Xing explained that with only four energy stones and potentially inferior materials, the spaceship couldn't leave Earth. He planned to explore, seeking answers about his origins and the possibility of returning. If unsuccessful, he might return to Luo Yue in a few years.
At that moment, Xu Yuehua’s phone rang. She answered, then hung up with a joyful exclamation. “Satellite images show a massive explosion at Xin Li Ni Island. It’s nearly leveled. We’ve sent investigators.”
Ye Mo nodded, shaken by the bombs’ power.
Meanwhile, Dongfang Wang, still in Northern Sand, received no news of Luo Yue’s bombing. Instead, he learned of Xin Li Ni Island’s destruction and the live broadcast of his words. Enraged, he spat blood, cursed Ye Mo, and fainted. His desperate attempt to combat Ye Mo had forced cooperation with his bitter rival, Dongfang Tang, to no avail.
Ye Mo’s calm demeanor spoke volumes to those who knew him. They were incredulous that he could have moved all those bombs to the island so quickly; it seemed impossible.
Hearing this news, Ye Mo felt immense satisfaction. Dongfang Wang had destroyed his own base! “Ha ha ha!”
“Luo Yue needs development. I want to hear your ideas,” Ye Mo stated. He planned to deal with Dongfang Wang later.
Xu Yuehua rose. “President, I have made grave errors as city lord and wish to resign.”
Ye Mo nodded; she wasn’t suited to the position, but who could replace her? The person needed political acumen and unwavering loyalty to Luo Yue—the latter wasn’t a concern; everyone there was loyal.
Ye Zifeng also stood. “Big Brother, I don’t believe I should remain Vice City Lord. I request to resign.”
Ye Ling was about to speak, but Ye Mo, anticipating her words, patted her shoulder, signaling her to sit.
“Who do you think is best suited to be city lord?” he asked.
Everyone looked at Ye Mo, the obvious choice, but they knew it was impractical; he wasn’t often in Luo Yue.
Seeing their silence, Ye Mo declared, “I’ll outline Luo Yue’s positions; citizens will vote for the city lord, and all other political positions will be decided by vote. I suggest Naval Commander Huang Yinian as the next city lord.”
Ye Mo's choice was carefully considered. Huang Yinian was battle-hardened, particularly at sea, crucial given Luo Yue’s coastal location. He was also older and dependable, prioritizing development over war, and possessed deep knowledge and love for Luo Yue.
“Yes, I accept,” Huang Yinian replied, eager to serve Luo Yue. He'd observed flaws in Xu Yuehua's leadership but, as a mere naval commander, had remained silent.
Ye Mo addressed Xu Ping. “Second Brother, you’ll no longer be military commander. Prepare to establish Luo Yue City’s martial academy, open only to black-level and above. They’ll be responsible for Luo Yue’s high-level security. You’ll be director, and Sister Yuehua, vice-director.”
The recent events highlighted the need for stronger security at the management level. Even China possessed a Heaven Squad. The ease with which Dongfang Wang found two half-Great Heaven masters needed investigation.
Ye Mo then instructed Guo Qi to assume Xu Ping’s military command, appointing Li Sandao as ground forces commander. The naval commander would be chosen by City Lord Huang, the air force commander remained, Zang Jiayan became First Vice City Lord, Ye Ling Second Vice City Lord, Yu Miaodan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fang Wei retained his police position, Shi Xiu became Yu Miaodan’s assistant, and Shen Qianqian and Lu Lin kept their roles.
Ye Mo continued, “Luo Yue’s martial academy will be the premier ancient martial arts training facility. Anyone interested may train there, but with one condition: you must not teach what you learn. Zifeng, you’ll study there for a time before resuming your duties.”
The meeting adjourned. Though future positions would be decided by vote, Ye Mo would make initial appointments.
He retained Zang Jiayan, Xu Ping, Xu Yuehua, Ye Ling, and Ye Zifeng, summoning Yu Erhu. Producing three Great Essence Increasing Pills, he gave them to Zang Jiayan, Xu Ping, and Xu Yuehua. “These will elevate you to Great Heaven. Luo Yue needs masters; I can’t always be here.”
Gasps of shock filled the room. Such pills existed! If news leaked, hidden sects would flock to Luo Yue.
