Chapter 786: The Only Thing

Ye Mo smiled, recognizing the woman as an ancient martial arts cultivator, at least at the Yellow Level Primary stage. The police moved to apprehend him, but the woman gestured for them to hold back, seemingly awaiting Ye Mo's response.

โ€œYes, I did. But to me, this wasn't a beating. If I'd actually beaten them, they'd be exhaling no more,โ€ Ye Mo said contemptuously.

The woman's brow furrowed, her eyes sharpening. โ€œAren't you rather cocky?โ€

Ye Mo smiled casually. โ€œIf you want to fight without asking why, I'll be cockier than you can imagine.โ€

Ye Mo prepared for combat, knowing practitioners of ancient martial arts often preferred fists to words. However, the woman hesitated, her frown deepening at Ye Mo's fearless demeanor.

Turning to the young man, she asked, โ€œDi Zi, is she the one you want as your girlfriend?โ€ She indicated Ye Yimo, still in Ye Mo's arms.

โ€œYes, Sister Cai, I really like her. I want to take her home. Sheโ€™s so pretty! Iโ€ฆ I must have her! I promise sheโ€™ll be my only girlfriend; Iโ€™ll even give up my current one!โ€ Di Hua pleaded desperately, believing Sister Cai's presence would ensure success.

The woman studied Yimo, her expression softening slightly. She turned to Ye Mo. โ€œWho are you to this girl? Although Di Zi is only twelve, he genuinely likes her. Itโ€™s their fortuneโ€ฆ Di Zi wouldnโ€™t mistreat her. I thinkโ€”โ€

โ€œGet lost!โ€ Ye Mo roared, delivering two swift slaps.

Di Hua flew backward, his teeth hitting the ground before his body. Two crimson handprints bloomed on his face, bleeding profusely, even his ears beginning to bleed.

Ye Mo said coldly, โ€œThat pig of yours doesn't deserve to be associated with my Yimo.โ€

Rage consumed Ye Mo. Yimo, his thirteen-year-old daughter, was being pursued by this scoundrel. He desperately wanted to kill them.

But he couldn't. News of Luo Yue City's Ye Mo killing someone would spread globally. Even if he masked his face, he wouldn't kill in front of his daughter so soon after reuniting with her. Had he not come to Ning Hai and found her, she would have fallen into that boy's hands. The youth was clearly unscrupulous, and his family was powerful. Song Yangzhu and Yimo would have been helpless.

โ€œYou!โ€ Sister Cai pointed at Ye Mo, trembling with fury.

โ€œA mere Yellow Level Primary stage cultivator, don't make a fool of yourself. I should be the one seeking trouble, but I'm not in the mood. Ruin my mood, however, and you'll regret it.โ€

The woman suppressed her urge to attack, a sudden premonition of danger washing over her. Ye Mo truly lacked patience for this. He had just been reunited with his daughter.

When the police finally reacted, Ye Mo was gone. They perceived his departure as slow, yet heโ€™d vanished in an instant. They looked at Sister Cai, awaiting her order.

The woman opened her mouth, but before she could speak, Ye Mo was gone. She knew she'd encountered a master.

โ€œYou can all go back now.โ€ She realized the police were ineffective against such opponents. Revenge would come, but not through them.

This man's strength was extraordinary. If the Bao She Hall of Ning Hai could be so easily manipulated, they wouldn't hold their position of dominance.

After the police left, the woman checked Di Hua's wounds, only to discover her shoes, and even her socks, had been cleanly sliced off from the bottom! Had the cut been higher, she would have lost flesh. Her heart pounded. He'd severed her shoes without her knowledge? He could have just as easily severed her legs!

There was someone this powerful in Ning Hai? Who was he?

She quickly summoned help, sending Di Hua to the hospital, then departed hastily. The Bao She Hall might vanish after offending such a person! She suspected Ye Mo's mercy was a prelude to annihilating the Bao She Hall.

...

The womanโ€™s guess was correct. Ye Mo intended to kill Di Hua later.

But he didnโ€™t have the time. Yimo was in a crucial developmental stage, yet malnourished. Treating her body was paramount.

โ€œIs your mother well?โ€ Ye Mo asked, noting Yimoโ€™s subdued demeanor.

He harbored little affection for Song Yangzhu, but seeing his daughter ignited guilt.

โ€œHer health isn't good, so I planned to return home,โ€ Yimo said, wiping her eyes.

She felt as though she were dreaming. Though she'd never seen her father, meeting him now felt like countless dreamed encounters. Her mother had said he would come; this was the moment she'd longed for. Hearing him say his name felt utterly natural; the only strangeness was his youth.

Ye Mo felt even more guilty.

Yimo clung tightly to his shoulders, fearing he would disappear.

Calming down, she explained, โ€œMother spent all her savings on my education at Ning Haiโ€™s best school. When she fell ill, she didn't want to spend money, delaying treatment. Now, she's getting worse.โ€

Ye Mo frowned. He'd given her a luminous pearl. Even without skills, she could have sold it and lived comfortably.

โ€œDid your mother mention anything valuable she could sell?โ€ Ye Mo asked.

Yimo nodded. โ€œShe has a beautiful pearl; Mother said it was worth a fortune, but it was the only thing Dad left behind, so she didn't want to sell it. I agreed. Dad, you left that luminous pearl for Mother and me, right?โ€
