Chapter 82: Yun Bing's Sigh

Translator: Tim Editor: Tehrn

Hearing Yun Bing's words, Ye Mo fell silent. He'd overestimated himself the previous day. He'd gone only out of curiosity about Hu Qiu; he hadn't anticipated Song Shaotan's presence. However, Song Shaotan's men had injured Ning Qingxue, leaving him no choice but to kill Song Shaotan.

This significantly deviated from his plan. Killing Song Shaotan wouldn't have been a major problem; he could have left Ning Hai that night. However, Hu Qiu proved far stronger than he'd anticipated, leaving him severely injured. Had Yun Bing not rescued him, he'd likely be in the Song Family compound already.

Even with a strong background, escape from the Song Family's grasp would be impossible, let alone now that he had none.

"What now?" Ye Mo realized he was trapped. Ning Hai was undoubtedly on lockdown. If he were in the third stage of Chi Gathering, escape would be easy, but he was only in the late second stage.

Observing Ye Mo's silence, Yun Bing assumed he was retrieving his bag from the car. She was about to leave when Ye Mo grabbed her, prompting a confused look.

Ye Mo shook his head. "Don't go."

He'd prevented Yun Bing from leaving because his injuries had unexpectedly extended his spirit sense to a range of 12-15 meters. His scan revealed two casually dressed individuals seemingly monitoring the comings and goings. While uncertain of their connection to him, Ye Mo prioritized caution.

"Why?" Yun Bing, unaware of the surveillance, questioned his sudden change of heart regarding the bag.

Unable to reveal his spirit sense, Ye Mo explained, "It's unsafe to retrieve things from the car in the middle of the night. Besides, it would attract unwanted attention."

Yun Bing considered this plausible and didn't press the issue.

Ye Mo reasoned that if even Yun Bing could deduce his involvement in the killings, the Song Family would certainly identify him as the murderer. He needed to leave Ning Hai immediately. His trip to Luo Cang was now impossible.

He sighed, "Plans rarely survive contact with reality." He'd hoped to settle down, plant his Silver Heart Grass, and then head to the desert. Now, that was impossible.

"Get some sleep," Ye Mo said to Yun Bing.

"Aren't you sleeping?" Yun Bing noted the single bed, concerned about Ye Mo's sleeping arrangements.

Ye Mo shook his head. "I'm not tired. You sleep first." He wasn't tired, and frankly, he was in no mood for sleep. His plans had failed, and he needed to formulate new ones.

Seeing Ye Mo shirtless, Yun Bing hesitated before suggesting, "It's still early. The bed is large; we can sleep on opposite sides."

Ye Mo was surprised by her suggestion. She didn't seem like an outwardly open person, but wanting to avoid misinterpretations, he nodded. "Fine. Sleep. I'll rest on the bed." He could cultivate there, and a few hours would pass quickly. He needed to be cautious, given his injuries.

Ye Mo quickly entered a state of cultivation. Yun Bing, however, slept restlessly, a stark contrast to her usually stoic demeanor. She shifted, eventually snuggling against one of Ye Mo's legs.

Despite cultivating, Ye Mo felt Yun Bing's body and the softness of her chest. A virgin in both his past and present lives, both as an ordinary man and a cultivator, he felt a surge of attraction but quickly dismissed it, resuming his cultivation.

A few hours passed swiftly. Ye Mo remained immersed in cultivation, while Yun Bing slept soundly, a slight smile playing on her lips. Perhaps this was the best sleep she'd had since the incident. She felt a sense of security and dependence, replacing the previous hollowness; her grip on Ye Mo tightened.

After completing a large Chi cycle, Ye Mo opened his eyes to find dawn approaching. Seeing Yun Bing pressed completely against him, her head buried in the blanket, Ye Mo felt the temperature rise. He wanted to remove her hands, but her grip was too tight.

Seeing her peaceful sleep, he sighed and decided not to wake her, continuing his cultivation for another cycle. By then, she should be awake.

As Ye Mo began his next cycle, Yun Bing awoke, instantly realizing she was clinging to his leg. Startled, she let go, feeling her face flush despite the dim light.

She immediately thought of Ye Mo: "Did he really sit like that all night?" Seeing his closed eyes, she breathed a sigh of relief. It would have been incredibly embarrassing if he'd been awake.

Reflecting on her feelings, however, she recognized a worry-free serenity she'd experienced while clinging to Ye Mo's leg, a comfort she hadn't felt before. His scent was pleasant, even ethereal.

Yun Bing gazed at Ye Mo's sleeping face and touched her own, realizing her age (30). Despite her youthfulness, a bitterness filled her heart. She questioned the wisdom of returning to Beijing to see Feng Rong. Some thoughts remained unspoken, but that didn't mean they didn't exist.

Was Feng Rong still the man he was years ago? She was no longer the same Yun Bing. She'd wanted to see him, to ask why he'd left without a word, why he'd never contacted her.

Now, it seemed pointless. What if he remembered her? What if he didn't? Would he disappear again if a similar situation arose? Was he reliable? And even if he could take her to America, would she see Ting Ting?

Ye Mo remained asleep. Yun Bing looked down at her body, remembering Ye Mo seeing her naked, and felt a burning sensation. She trembled, feeling overwhelmed, quickly leaving the bedroom for a glass of cold water to regain her composure.

Returning to the bedroom, she avoided the bed, watching Ye Mo silently before letting out a barely audible sigh. She hadn't expected to experience sexual attraction towards him. However, her logic prevailed; they were on different paths, unlikely to encounter each other again.

Despite Ning Zhongfei and Lan Yu's pleas, Ning Qingxue refused to leave the house. They were forced to comply. Li Mumei remained with her, but they needed to return to Yu State.

"Mumei, how is it?" Ning Qingxue recalled Li Mumei's promise to contact journalists, wanting updates on Ye Mo's situation.

"I've inquired. Tonight, the Ning Hai City police department will hold a press conference. A friend of Jingwen's will be there. We can meet them tomorrow, but Qingxue, this situation might actually benefit us; seeing the journalists may be unnecessary," Li Mumei replied.

Ning Qingxue understood her intentions but couldn't explain herself, saying only, "It might relate to me. Let's make sure."

Li Mumei knew someone from the Song Family had died. Nonetheless, she obliged Ning Qingxue's wish.
