Chapter 824: The Final Winner
“I would never attack Big Martial Brother,” Ren Xi said. “If anything happened to him, All Gu Sect would be finished. It’s better to let Big Martial Brother have the Golden Magical Gu.”
He glanced at Li Buqing and sneered, “You’re just a clown.”
Wen Gu sneered, unhappy. She looked at Ji Lie and said, “I just want one egg; I’ll leave immediately.”
Ji Lie produced a bright red gu. He said coldly, “Wen, you old hag, I’ve tolerated you long enough. Don’t you think I can easily end your life?”
Wen Gu’s face paled, and she trembled at the sight of the gu. Ye Mo knew Wen Gu had released two gu, while Ji Lie had killed four, leaving one unaccounted for.
“You used the same heart gu!” Wen Gu raged. “We swore that anyone using it to harm another would be burned to death! You broke your oath!”
Ye Mo knew of this gu; it required a loving couple to implant and was notoriously difficult to remove.
Ji Lie sneered, “I did swear an oath. But I said whoever broke it would be ‘burned to death by fire without root.’ I’ve only heard of ‘water without root,’ not fire. Do you think my words were meaningless?”
“You’re hideous,” Wen Gu spat.
Ji Lie’s contempt was palpable. “What oath did you make? You heard my oath, yet claimed the same consequence for yourself! You scorpion-hearted woman! You used a gu to disfigure my face to win my virginity. Do you think I don't know? Shameless! Even without the Golden Magical Gu, I will kill you.”
He continued, listing names, “Name one man in All Gu Sect you slept with whose face wasn't ruined! Xue Cihu, Yan Wuliang, Kong Xiaolai—can you count them all?”
Wen Gu lunged at Ji Lie, but despite her fury, Ye Mo sensed a chilling calm. Ji Lie seemed to ignore her attack, gently squeezing the gu.
A cry of agony echoed—from Ji Lie, not Wen Gu. Confusion reigned. While Ji Lie writhed, Wen Gu severed his arm with a whip.
Seeking refuge with Ren Xi, Ji Lie was stabbed in the back. Ren Xi, having just sworn allegiance to Ji Lie, had betrayed him. Though not fatal, the wound weakened Ji Lie. Ren Xi prepared to strike again, but Ji Lie’s powerful kick sent him flying, crashing against a wall, spitting blood.
Feng Yanqi hesitated, providing Ji Lie a moment to recover. Wen Gu glared, “Why didn’t you attack? We had an agreement.”
“I-I-” Feng Yanqi stammered, fear masking her true composure. Only Ye Mo saw the lie in her calm qi. She'd calculated that attacking would leave her vulnerable to Ji Lie's counterattack.
“Wen Gu, you’re waiting to let me injure Yanqi and reap the rewards,” Ji Lie said, taking pills. “I fell for it, but tell me, when did you implant the same heart gu?”
“Don't you want to know when I planted it?” Wen Gu sneered.
Ji Lie scoffed, “No need. I was careless. You planted two gu when I arrived, including your own same heart gu. Your skills far surpass mine.”
Wen Gu's face hardened. She stared at Ji Lie, saying, “Martial Brother Ji, I never wronged you, yet you betrayed me repeatedly. I killed so many, my hands grew weary from killing your women—you had too many. You made a false oath, and even forced out your own same heart gu.”
She continued, her voice filled with bitter memories, “I realized it the day you forced out the same heart gu. I watched you with another woman, hearing your vile curses. I wanted to kill you, but knew that if I appeared, you’d only need to kill my same heart gu. From that day, I swore to make you die by your own same heart gu. Ji, now you die!”
Heavily wounded and facing Wen Gu's attack, Ji Lie, seemingly resigned to fate, fought for a chance, spitting blood as he launched a dark grey gu at Wen Gu. Unseen by most, Wen Gu turned, the whip striking Feng Yanqi.
Feng Yanqi, anticipating this, had already prepared an ambush. If she injured Wen Gu sufficiently, she could claim the Golden Magical Gu. She hadn’t believed Wen Gu would ignore a stronger foe to attack her.
The whip tore through Feng Yanqi’s chest. She was thrown against the wall, her face ashen, bleeding profusely. A look of almost relief crossed her face.
As Wen Gu withdrew her whip, Ji Lie's gu entered her body. She spat blood, tearing open her chest, consuming a gu. Ji Lie, spitting more blood, collapsed.
“Hahaha! I’m the final winner!” Wen Gu laughed, until Li Buqing’s kick sent her flying into Ji Lie’s arms. She coughed up blood and organs, staring in disbelief at Li Buqing, who rose slowly, murmuring, “The final winner…should be me.”
