Chapter 938: Loot Fest

Dong Tianya's stamp was flicked away by the Three-eyed Purple Frog, the concussive force of the cultivator's essence sending him sprawling, spitting blood. The frog lunged again, but this time, several cultivators hurled magic artifacts at it.

"The Three-eyed Purple Frog's blood purifies impurities and removes pill poison! A bottle for each attacker!" Dong Tianya shouted, recovering himself and urging others to join the fray. He knew firsthand that a small group was no match for the beast. However, the lure of the frog's precious blood, and proximity to the purple flower flame, proved irresistible.

Dozens of cultivators charged, each attack thinning their numbers as the frog's tongue lashed out. Still, the assault continued. Despite being a level 6 spirit beast, the sheer number of attackers overwhelmed it. After snatching two Golden Core state cultivators and killing four with water jets, a portion of its tongue was sliced off by a peak Golden Core cultivatorโ€™s powerful magic artifactโ€”though the cultivator expended considerable cultivation essence in the process. He was still rewarded with a small bottle of the precious blood.

This fueled the frenzy. More cultivators attacked with reckless abandon.

Ye Mo remained still. While the frogโ€™s blood held immense value, its true prize lay in its third eyeโ€”the Eye of the Soul. This eye possessed a unique spirit sense attack, a soul-crushing ability. Ye Mo knew that this, not its tongue or water jets, was the frog's most potent weapon, but its weakness lay in the fact that such an attack would severely harm the creature itself. With a portion of its tongue severed, it was less likely to rely on physical attacks. The Eye of the Soul, he knew, could be spirit-controlled to learn the technique, potentially adding devastating power to his own potent spirit sense. Some cultivators even integrated the eye into their own bodies, but Ye Mo simply aimed to learn its devastating attack. Heโ€™d learned this from a book entitled โ€œThing.โ€

As expected, two cultivators screamed, frantically pulling at their hair before collapsing into the lake. The Three-eyed Purple Frog, ignoring them, continued its spirit sense attack, sending more and more into the lake. Panic spread as more drowned, triggering a retreat.

"It's a spirit sense attack!" a cultivator cried, attempting to flee before collapsing himself.

The Three-eyed Purple Frog, sensing its own demise, plunged into the lake, leaving only the flame behind. This, Ye Mo realized, was his opportunity.

Just as he turned to summon Guo Qifan, the flame fully bloomed, releasing dozens of slowly descending purple raysโ€”the Purple Fire Seeds. Guo Qifan and Yan Qi, followed quickly by Ding Ling, immediately charged toward them. The majority of the assembled hundreds of cultivators followed, leaving only a handful behind. A chaotic scramble for the seeds ensued, a whirlwind of spirit artifacts and bloodshed precisely as Ye Mo had anticipated. The lake quickly turned crimson.

Ye Mo, knowing his chances with the flame were slim, still refused to miss this opportunity. He plunged into the lake, seemingly knocked down, but in reality, aiming for the Three-eyed Purple Frogโ€™s eye.

At the lakebed, he found the weakened frog beside a rock. Its depleted state didnโ€™t prevent it from instantly attacking with its tongue. Despite its weakened state, it remained far stronger than Ye Mo at Golden Core level 1, a single careless mistake meaning death. He unleashed Zi Xu and Shadowless simultaneously.

Zi Xu's purple sword rays formed whirlpools, deflecting the huge tongue and inflicting deep gashes. The frog shrieked, retaliating with water jets, but Ye Mo, forgoing the sword rays, channeled all his cultivation essence into hacking the already injured tongue, spurting a jet of blood across the lake.

The frog roared, and a chilling wave of soul attack washed over Ye Mo. His tertiary stage Golden Core spirit sense, he hadnโ€™t anticipated, was no match for the beast's attackโ€”an attack capable of debilitating the mind, leaving permanent damage. Though weakened from repeated use, Ye Mo dared not risk it. He retreated into the golden page world, evading the attack.

The Three-eyed Purple Frog's missed attack, and Ye Mo's sudden disappearance, sparked fear in the weakened beast. Re-emerging before it, Ye Mo pressed his advantage. This time, fear was etched across the frog's face.

He attacked with Zi Xu, aiming not to kill the creatureโ€”a task too difficultโ€”but to secure its eye. The Three-eyed Purple Frog attempted escape, but Ye Mo wouldn't let it flee. The battle resumed, the lake again rumbling, completely unnoticed by those focused on the Purple Fire Seeds. Ye Mo ordered Shadowless to infiltrate the frog as he attacked its head.
