Chapter 958: Worried
Ye Mo's delay stemmed partly from circuitous routes, but primarily from studying the Heaven Ascension Pill. He dared not consume it directly, but self-creation was a different matter.
Even a year of study plus six months of cultivation seemed worthwhile, as attaining the Golden Core State peak stage through other means would require several years. Without pills or special resources, reaching that stage could take five or six decades.
Fortunately, the past three months were not wasted. While he hadn't fully deciphered the pill, he'd identified two ingredients. More importantly, he'd developed a basic model for a spirit sense attack, which he named Purple Eye Soul Sever.
He divided it into seven levels. Level one allowed a spirit sense pike attack, causing piercing pain and temporary dizziness, but only if the opponent initiated spirit sense contact. Level two could sever the opponent's projected spirit sense, injuring their soul. Level three involved a spirit sense sword, capable of attacking the sea of consciousness, potentially shattering it if insufficiently strong, even without prior spirit sense contact. Level seven could crush an enemy's sea of consciousness, rendering them an idiot.
Defense against Purple Eye Soul Sever was extremely difficult without a spirit sense defensive artifact. However, it also injured the attacker's spirit sense and demanded significant spirit sense power. Currently, Ye Mo could only use level one twice before exhaustion. Greater power meant greater side effects, but he believed that with increasing spirit sense strength, these injuries would eventually become negligible.
He'd also advanced from the Golden Core State, level two primary stage, to the middle stage, thanks to a bottle of green condense pills.
Arriving in the city, he opted against immediate cultivation, checking into a hotel for a day. He habitually scouted for wanted posters, altering his course if necessary. Time was less of a concern than attracting unwanted attention to Pei Hai City. While he'd seen no posters, his vigilance remained high.
He detected a lack of high-level cultivators; the strongest were only at the Foundation Establishment stage. After checking into the hotel, he discreetly extended his spirit sense to encompass the entire city, avoiding ostentatious displays of power, a contrast to his habits on Earth.
His spirit sense triggered a sense of familiarity, leading him to a young girl wearing a familiar bracelet—a defensive and offensive magic artifact of his own creation, bearing his spirit sense mark. Someone he knew had lost it.
Abandoning patience, he entered the girl's room, seizing the bracelet. The girl screamed; her family's wealth and influence were evident in the quick arrival of maids, one possessing considerable power.
Unconcerned, Ye Mo immediately recognized the bracelet as one intended for Su Jingwen via Ning Qingxue. Su Jingwen’s presence here, and apparent plight, immediately concerned him.
"Who are you? Why did you take my bracelet?" the girl asked calmly.
"Where did you get this bracelet?" Ye Mo countered coldly.
"Why should I tell you?" she retorted confidently, as guards arrived.
Ye Mo effortlessly dispatched the guards. Before the girl could scream again, he reduced her makeup desk to dust.
"Three seconds. Speak, or never speak again," he warned, his patience exhausted by the implications for Su Jingwen.
A maid, recognizing Ye Mo as a powerful immortal cultivator, urged the girl to cooperate. The girl, realizing the danger, revealed she'd purchased the bracelet at the Precious Jewelry Tower. Before she could elaborate, Ye Mo vanished.
Moments later, Ye Mo stood before the Precious Jewelry Tower. He brusquely instructed an attendant to summon the manager. The attendant, sensing trouble, responded curtly, stating the manager's absence and requesting Ye Mo's departure.
