Chapter 12: Biting the Corner of His Lips

Olive recognized the voice. Elvis?

She looked up. It was Elvis, his handsome face filling her vision. "Whywhat are you doing here?" she stammered, surprised by his appearance.

Elvis tightened his grip on her wrist and moved closer. "If I didn't come, my hair would turn gray."

"What do you mean?" Olive's face remained impassive.

Elvis furrowed his brow. "Who was that with you?"

Knowing he'd misunderstood, Olive soothingly explained, "I have nothing to do with Mr. Ronald. I'm just here to take care of some things."

"By pole dancing?" he retorted.

Olive frowned. "Mr. Augustine, you're acting strangely today. Didn't we agree not to pry into each other's personal lives?"

In a split second, Elvis kissed her. Olive panicked, struggling to break free. "Mr. Augustine, you're going too far!"

Elvis blinked, tightening his grip. "Did our agreement include that I can't kiss you? Now that I'm kissing you, what will you do?"

"Mr. Augustine, let me go!" Olive struggled. A knock sounded on the door.

"Olive, what's going on in there? I heard a noise."

Olive's breath hitched. "II accidentally fell. I'm fine now."

"Then bathe quickly. I can't wait."

"Okay."

While she was talking to Mr. Ronald, Elvis's lips trailed down her neck. He kissed her passionately. This was different from their unintentional kiss in the car. This was deliberate.

His cool breath fell on her face, carrying the faint scent of tobacco. He stared at her bewildered face, not closing his eyes. He recalled her pole dancing, her captivating beauty mesmerizing the men in the audience. She was the main character—the girl he'd met on the train, the girl he'd married. He saw her beauty, intelligence, calmness, and cleverness. Sometimes playful as a puppy, other times cunning as a fox; yet, in matters of love, she was as pure as a blank sheet of paper.

Lost in his admiration, he felt himself biting his lip hard. He released her, holding his bleeding lip. "Are you a dog? You bite so much," he muttered, touching his mouth.

She snapped, "Who gave you permission to do that?"

Realizing his anger, he softened. "I'm sorry."

Olive said, "Mr. Augustine, let me be clear. As long as I'm in a contract marriage with you, I won't cheat. But you shouldn't blame me if other men find me attractive. I can't control their feelings."

Elvis smirked. "So, I'm not allowed to be jealous?"

His words silenced Olive. She hadn't expected his jealousy.

"Olive, are you alright? If you don't come out, I'm coming in. We'll bathe together," Mr. Ronald called from outside.

Elvis put his hand in his pocket and started for the door. Olive pulled him back. "Mr. Augustine, what are you doing?"

"I never considered bathing with you. Why would he?"

Olive blushed, comforting him. "Don't be upset, Mr. Augustine. I can handle him."

"Leave him to me," Elvis insisted.

"No, Mr. Augustine. I don't want to rely on others. I'll handle it myself. Don't interfere," Olive insisted. Elvis stared at her silently.

"Just stay here. I'll go in now." Olive entered the bathroom.

"Olive, why didn't you shower?" Mr. Ronald asked as she entered the room.

"I changed my mind."

Mr. Ronald rushed to her. "Alright, alright. We'll bathe together later."

Monica, suspecting another stunt, eavesdropped at the door. Silence fell, then unusual sounds. What happened? Olive's quick agreement to the appointment seemed suspicious. Something felt wrong. The quiet was unsettling. Monica swiftly opened the door.

"Mr. Ronald, what happened?" she asked, entering the room. It was empty. The bed was empty.

She turned and saw Mr. Ronald, bare-chested, rush toward her. He hugged her. "Beautiful one, hurry up, let's have some fun!" He threw her on the bed. Stunned, she watched him tear the buttons from her dress.
