Chapter 148

"You really made me watch a good show," Pamela muttered.

Olive lay in Marvin's embrace, her pale face pressed against his chest. The girl in his arms seemed boneless; her scent was the same as it had been two years ago. Marvin lowered his eyelids and gently wrapped an arm around her shoulders.

Unseen, Pamela watched from outside. She had wanted to share good news with Olive, but this was quite the unexpected scene. Olive was being hugged by a man.

Quickly covering her mouth, Pamela retreated to the side. She knew Marvin was a student at the institute, but beyond that, she knew little about him—she wasn't from a wealthy family herself. He was handsome, but Pamela prided herself on not being superficial. Still, she never expected to see Olive involved with him.

Olive was married to Elvis Augustine. Pamela's heart pounded. She had stumbled upon something big. Without hesitation, she took a picture of Marvin hugging Olive, found Elvis's number, and sent the photo. Then, she hid to watch the unfolding drama.

A Rolls-Royce Phantom quietly pulled up outside the Ivory Council. Elvis had arrived to pick up Olive. He hadn't slept all night. Dressed in a black turtleneck and coat, he scrolled through his chat with Olive—the only account he followed. He’d been at the company all day, constantly checking his phone for a message from her. Hours passed with nothing. He wondered where she was.

He called the Red Villa, but his grandmother said Olive hadn't returned. It was late. Why wasn't she home?

The urge to smoke returned. His grandmother had just teased him for his frantic search for Olive. He pursed his lips and chuckled at himself. He was angry, but also afraid—afraid she wouldn't speak to him, afraid she’d run away with someone else.

He was about to call Olive when a message arrived. The photo Pamela had sent.

Elvis's pupils narrowed, his tall frame freezing. He stared at the picture. It was his Mrs. Augustine in Marvin's arms.

Silence filled the room. Marvin gently held Olive. After a while, Olive slowly regained consciousness. The mandala flower poison was potent, but Olive, a medical genius, was almost invulnerable. Anyone else would have died instantly. The antidote hadn't worked fully; she'd need another attempt.

Olive tried to open her eyes, but darkness persisted. She felt a hand on her shoulder. Marvin's voice. "Are you alright?"

She was leaning against his chest! Shocked, she tried to push him away, but her movements were weak.

A cold voice cut through the air. "Wow, what a beautiful show!"

Olive looked up. Her vision cleared. Elvis stood by the door, a figure radiating icy anger. The murderous intent in his deep, narrowed eyes was unmistakable.

"Mr. Augustine!" Olive cried, but Elvis was already moving. A powerful fist connected with Marvin's face, sending him sprawling. Another blow followed.

"Marvin, do you know who she is? She's my wife!" Elvis roared.

Marvin wiped blood from his lip, his eyes dark. "A monster?"

Elvis, fueled by rage, unleashed a flurry of punches. Terrified, Olive—seeing Elvis hit someone for the first time—struggled to her feet and rushed to him, hugging him from behind.

"Mr. Augustine, that's enough, please."

His movements restricted, Elvis straightened, roaring, "Let go! Do you hear me?"

"I won't! You've misunderstood! We weren't doing anything! Just stop hitting him!" She knew he was beyond reason.

Elvis's chest heaved like a wild beast's. He spun around, grabbing her wrist and pulling her away. Marvin, quickly rising, grabbed her other wrist. She was caught between them.
