Chapter 15: TV Interview

Olive shuddered at the thought of the incident being man-made. Elvis, then a teenager, had been deeply affected and had carefully concealed it, wanting to protect her from the pain.

Olive nodded emphatically. “Okay, I promise. No matter what they say, I won’t listen. I’ll always have your back.”

Elvis kissed her. “Olive, I love you…”

After showering, they returned to bed. Curled in Elvis’s arms, Olive pondered, then quickly asked, “Mr. Augustine, why were you at the Ivory Council? Was it a coincidence?”

Elvis stroked her smooth black hair, then handed her his phone. “I was outside, picking you up. Pamela texted, so I went in.”

Olive saw Pamela’s photo: Marvin’s hand lightly on Olive’s shoulder, making it look like a hug.

It was Pamela again! She realized Pamela had called Elvis to catch her. Unsurprised, Olive sat on his waist.

“Mr. Augustine, why do you still have Pamela’s contact? Waiting for her to seduce you before you block her?”

Elvis looked at her angry face. “Oops, my bad. I’ll block her.” He reached for the phone.

Olive snatched it back. “It’s okay. But if she tries anything, tell me immediately. I can handle her.”

“Then get off me!” Elvis commanded.

Olive tumbled down, hiding under the covers, only her eyes visible. “Mr. Augustine, if Pamela says I’m cheating, you’ll believe her over me? I’m your wife!” she complained calmly.

His heart softened. He kissed her forehead. “I’m sorry. I was wrong.”

“Mr. Augustine, let’s be clear. Nothing happened with Marvin. Pamela will make a fuss, but you must believe and support me. That will shame her into silence!” Olive pleaded, her eyes searching his for reassurance.

Elvis had always admired her intelligence. Instead of escalating conflict, she calmed and pleased him. He couldn't understand how he'd fallen for her. He kissed her fiercely on her neck, leaving a noticeable hickey.

“Mr. Augustine! You know I have meetings today!” Olive glared.

He held her hand, his fingers intertwining with hers.

“Mr. Augustine, you’re terrible!”

He frowned. “What’s wrong with me? You better take care of me tonight, otherwise…”

“OMG!” Olive laughed.

At the Ivory Council, the research institute buzzed with activity. Media from major LA TV stations waited to interview Pamela. The academy’s commendation ceremony was also underway, announced online hours earlier.

In a pharmacy, Divine, unhappy, showed Olive Pamela’s social media.

“Olive, look! Pamela’s fans are celebrating. This acupuncture thing is huge for her. She went from eight million to twenty million followers.”

Olive wasn’t interested, but Divine showed her the comments:

“OMG! My Pamela focused on her career!” “She sealed an acupuncture point? Amazing!” “Wonder how the other party feels. Lol.” “Pamela’s a talented medical genius! Is a man really the prize?”

They were indirectly mocking Olive.

“Olive, I still can’t believe it. How did Pamela learn to seal acupuncture points? Did she really save Mrs. Robert?” Divine asked incredulously.

Before Olive could respond, Patrick and Monica appeared. Monica, elegantly dressed, beamed.

“Olive, surprised? Director Hudson invited us to Pamela’s TV interview. The world wants to know how we raised such a genius!”

Patrick also looked pleased. “Olive, as Pamela’s sister, you can join us.”
