Chapter 167: Olive Is Here
How was that possible? Pamela couldn't believe she had mistakenly sealed the old lady's acupuncture point.
"Divine, stop this nonsense!" she exclaimed. "Everyone knows Olive only graduated from high school. What do you know about medicine? You can't even remember herb names! Director Hudson, Mrs. Robert is ill again. Let me give her an injection immediately."
Pamela doubted anything but her medical skills, officially certified as they were. Director Hudson sided with her, pulling Divine aside. "Divine, be quiet or you're fired!" Divine fell silent under his stern gaze.
Pamela quickly took a gold needle from the bedside table and pierced the old lady's neck, just as before. "Ma'am," she muttered, continuing the procedure, "if I could save you once, I can save you again. I saved you!"
Reporters eagerly filmed this dramatic moment, feeling fortunate to witness the talented doctor's second success. But then Mrs. Robert coughed up blood, splattering Pamela's face. Pamela screamed in terror.
Director Hudson checked the old lady's pulse, his face paling. "Pamela," he said, his voice grave, "what needle did you use? She's bleeding! Last time, you used the wrong needle! You've harmed her!"
The audience gasped. Pamela, blood-covered, trembled. The technique was the same, yet the result was disastrously different. She felt a plunge into despair. The golden needle shook in her hand; her confidence shattered. Could she be wrong? Could Olive have been right all along? Had Pamela neglected practice in favor of book learning?
The whispers started: "This is a real mess. Pamela didn't save her!" "She's harmed the old lady!" "If Mrs. Robert has complications, Pamela will go to prison!" "Who did save her?"
Divine, frantic, pulled on Director Hudson. "Director Hudson, Mrs. Robert is in danger! We need Olive!"
"Olive?" Hudson asked, confused.
"Yes! She saved Mrs. Robert the first time. Pamela took the credit," Divine explained. "If Mrs. Robert is to recover, we need Olive."
The audience was stunned. They’d almost forgotten Olive's claim. Initially doubted, her words now held weight.
Divine wiped blood from Mrs. Robert's mouth. Pamela leaned in. "Ma'am, did your savior wear a mask?"
The old lady nodded. Divine showed her a picture of Olive. "Ma'am, is this her?"
A kind smile graced the old lady's pale lips. "Yes! That's my angel!"
"Director Hudson, did you hear that? It's Olive!" Divine exclaimed.
Everyone was speechless. No one expected high-school graduate Olive to have saved Mrs. Robert. Hudson accepted the truth. He frantically searched his phone. "I'll call her."
A beautiful voice echoed from the doorway. "Director Hudson, no need to call. I'm here."
Olive entered. All eyes were on her. She winked at Divine, then addressed Hudson. "Director Hudson, I'll use an injection."
Everyone watched intently. Olive, in a lilac suspender skirt and beige cardigan, seemed ethereal. Her black hair cascaded over her shoulders, her face masked except for clear eyes. She was calm, unassuming. This was the first time Hudson saw her differently.
"Okay," he said calmly.
Olive approached the bed, her gaze settling on Mrs. Robert. "Ma'am," she said softly, "I'm here again."
Mrs. Robert smiled, then noticing the golden needle, asked, "Angel, will you use that again?"
Olive offered a candy. "This time, it's candy."
