Chapter 17: Royal Star Hotel
Olive entered the hotel and was about to take the elevator upstairs when she saw Pearl walking toward her.
“Olive, you’re here! Take a look—this is the Royal Star Hotel. If it weren’t for Gabriella’s birthday, you’d never set foot in a place like this in your entire life!” Pearl said with a spiteful laugh.
Olive pressed the elevator button and sighed. “Whose pug is this? It’s not leashed. Where’s its owner?”
“How dare you!” Pearl’s expression changed drastically. Noticing Olive’s red lace dress, she swiftly asked, “That’s from the global luxury brand, LUMINOUS. That’s their newest design. Where did you get it?”
Pearl was a true LUMINOUS fanatic. High-class ladies would do anything to buy from the brand, and those who did never hesitated to show it off. Seeing Olive in the world's most prestigious brand made her furious.
Olive was aware of the brand. She wondered how she would react if she knew she owned dozens of LUMINOUS pieces. Looking at Pearl’s envious face, Olive stepped into the elevator and smiled lightly. “Do you really want to know how I got it? No, I’m not going to tell you.”
Pearl’s mood was ruined. She detested Olive, especially with Olive’s beautiful figure perfectly showcasing the dress; she felt like ripping it off.
Pearl rushed into the elevator before it closed. She tugged on Olive’s dress and tore it.
Olive’s face turned cold. “Pearl, why did you tear my dress?”
Pearl smiled confidently. “Olive, I don’t understand what you’re saying. If you’re saying I tore your dress, prove it.”
Olive stepped forward, grabbed the edge of Pearl’s dress, and tore it.
“Olive!” Pearl gasped. She hadn’t expected the eloquent Olive to retaliate.
Olive sneered. “You can’t reason with a mad dog; you have to hit it.”
Pearl was about to explode!
The elevator doors opened. Monica, who was waiting, noticed the torn dress.
“Olive, what happened to your dress? Why are you attending a birthday party with a torn dress? Come with me; we have some spare dresses you can choose from.”
Olive followed her into a room. Beautiful dresses hung in the wardrobe. A maid held a pink princess dress, laced with diamonds, also from LUMINOUS.
Olive picked up a different dress. “I don’t like that one. I’ll wear this instead.”
The maid said anxiously, “Miss Olive, this dress is much better than the one you picked. You should wear this one.”
Olive looked at the maid. “It’s just a dress. Why are you worried?”
The maid, feeling a little guilty under Olive’s pure gaze, replied with a smile, “I’m not worried, Miss. I just want you to look beautiful at the party.”
“Thanks. I’ll go change. Please wait outside.”
At the party, Patrick had spent a lot of money. He’d invited most of LA’s celebrities and CEOs. Gabriella, surrounded by friends, saw Monica descending the stairs and whispered, “What’s wrong? Did she wear the dress?”
Monica nodded, smiling. “Yes, she did.”
“That’s great. We’ve suffered enough from her. Today, she’ll face the consequences. It’s a pity she’s wearing LUMINOUS; I don’t own any myself.”
Monica nodded happily. “Don’t worry, Gabby. Mommy will get you a LUMINOUS dress after her reputation is ruined.”
Gabriella hugged Monica joyfully. “Thank you, Mum.”
“You’re welcome, baby. Get ready; Olive will be here any moment. The show is about to begin!”
Gabriella returned to her friends. One asked, “Gabriella, I heard you bought a LUMINOUS princess dress. Why don’t you change into it? We want to see it.”
Another agreed. “Yes, Gabriella, the dress must be so pretty.”
Gabriella laughed. “Don’t worry, I’ll change into it soon.”
Pearl pulled Gabriella’s hand. “Look, Olive is coming down.”
Olive descended the stairs in the LUMINOUS dress. She looked stunning and elegant.
The chattering hall fell silent as all eyes focused on Olive.
Gabriella clenched her fist. Even though it was the plan, she wished Olive would disappear.
