Chapter 58: Do You Really Like Mr. Augustine?

Pamela had rescued him; he gave her a silver pendant. Later, Pamela used the pendant to find him, and he promised her three things: first, he would fund her foreign school fees (this was her second request).

Olive was petting Phoebe when a message popped up on her phone. It was from North. Olive logged into her social media account, and the first news she saw was that the Augustine Corporation had invested one million dollars into Hart Medical.

The sensational news topped headlines in all major magazines and financial newspapers, primarily because of Pamela Hart, the daughter of the wealthiest family in LA, who had just returned from studying abroad. The Augustine Corporation, a notoriously mysterious entity, was headed by a legendary CEO whom no major magazine had ever photographed. The CEO's substantial investment in a beautiful woman was, of course, even more sensational.

The news spread like wildfire, further elevating Pamela's status as a prominent socialite. Her fans reveled in her success. “The CEO of the Augustine Corporation is actually Pamela’s servant!” one commented. Another added, “Pamela, don’t settle for any less, you’re a precious star.”

At the Hart family home, Patrick collapsed in his chair upon seeing an alert on his phone. He felt like he was dreaming. His phone rang incessantly, almost blowing up with calls.

“Mr. Hart, I was wrong. I want to cooperate.”

“Mr. Hart, do you have time tonight? I’ll treat you to dinner. Can you bring Miss Pamela?”

“Mr. Hart, you really gave birth to a good daughter. We are far behind.”

Previously, these bosses had turned against Patrick, but now they were fawning over him. He felt his moment of glory had arrived.

Pamela walked in.

“Dad.”

Patrick stood up, looking at Pamela as if she were a national treasure. He asked incredulously, “Pamela, is it really President Augustine who gave you $1.2 million?”

“Yes, Dad, it’s him,” Pamela nodded.

Patrick was speechless. He’d never dreamed of being associated with the Augustine Corporation. He was astonished that his daughter had achieved what he couldn't.

“Pamela, how did you meet Mr. Augustine? Does Mr. Augustine like you?”

Pamela smiled mysteriously. “Dad, you don’t need to worry about me and President Augustine. You just need to know that I will marry Elvis Augustine.”

Patrick was speechless.

Pamela quickly added, “Dad, how about the divorce?”

“Okay, fine,” Patrick waved his hand, too happy to give it a second thought.

At the Red Villa, North’s message arrived again, this time laced with emotion. “Olive, did you see the news?”

Olive’s hands went cold. She had married into the Red Villa on Pamela’s behalf without inquiring about Elvis’s identity. However, she wasn’t foolish. Elvis's demeanor and actions were those of a business elite. She'd even seen several bosses playing cards with him at a bar. His personal secretary and PR director, Rita, called him “CEO.”

The coincidences were numerous. As in her conversation with North that day, his surname was Augustine. His identity was revealed.

Olive replied, “Elvis is the mysterious and low-key CEO of the Augustine Corporation, the richest man in LA, and the ‘Augustine’ who spent over a million dollars to welcome Pamela.”

North was stunned. After a moment, more messages arrived:

“Three years ago, Pamela was the first LA citizen to enter the Holy court. I heard that Elvis Augustine, the president of the Augustine corporation, personally sent her.”

“Three years later, Pamela returned to LA, and Elvis Augustine, the president of the Augustine corporation, spent a large sum on her behalf, automatically dispelling Patrick’s intent of divorcing Monica.”

“Three years ago, he sent her abroad. Three years later, he welcomed her with over a million dollars. Doesn’t that ring a bell, Olive?”

Olive fell silent. She’d never imagined a connection between Elvis and Pamela.

“It seems Elvis Augustine is an ace in Pamela’s hands,” North’s message continued, reeking of anger. Pamela had not only extricated herself from Monica's scandal but also garnered praise and sympathy. Most importantly, the man who had spent $1.2 million on Pamela was Olive’s new husband.

Olive sighed and replied, “Don’t be upset, North. This is really quite simple.” Only Elvis's relatives and acquaintances knew Olive was at the Red Villa.

“Olive, then you can quickly shut down Hart Medical, because half of the Augustine Corporation is yours. You’re Elvis Augustine’s wife.”

“That’s true. I’ll take care of Pamela. I’ll send her a lawyer’s letter, using Mrs. Augustine’s name to recover everything. Not a single penny will be left.”

North was silent for a few seconds, then sent: “If you have the ability, then go ahead.”

Olive smiled.

Another message from North: “You really like Mr. Augustine.”

Olive didn’t reply.

Then: “Olive, come pick me up at the airport later. I’ll be arriving in LA soon.”

Olive was surprised. North had said she would be in New York for a while.

“Why did you choose to visit so soon?” Olive asked.

“I’m afraid that you will be bullied. Pamela isn’t to be toyed with,” North replied.

Olive smiled. Despite everything, she still had her best friend.

A knock came at the door. Mrs. Samantha’s voice called out, “Olive.”

Olive put down her phone and opened the door. The old lady stood there, holding a large bag of snacks. “I didn’t know what you liked to eat, so I brought this. I heard it’s good to watch TV while eating snacks, especially when you’re in a bad mood. Let’s try it out.”

Seeing the old lady’s kind smile, Olive’s eyes welled up. She knew Mrs. Samantha truly loved her.
