Chapter 75: Mr. Lu's Phone

Greg demanded immediate compliance. He impatiently urged, "I don't care, Olive. Hurry up and clean the entire place."

Olive told Divine, "I'll go clean up."

As Olive gathered the cleaning tools Greg had left on the floor, Divine argued with Greg. "Greg, I don't think this is what Director Hudson ordered. I think you're deliberately making things difficult for Olive."

Greg glared at Divine's chubby face. "Divine, how did you become friends with Olive? Birds of a feather flock together. And Divine, don't call me that in front of others ever again. You embarrassed me greatly today."

Divine's eyes welled up. "Greg, since I'm an embarrassment to you, let's cancel the engagement."

"You made this choice. Don't come crying to me for another chance," Greg quickly threatened, fearing her regret.

"Don't worry, there won't be," Divine said, taking some tools from Olive. "Olive, I'll help you. Let's go."

Divine genuinely liked Greg. He was handsome, wealthy, and a medical student—perfect in her eyes.

Olive stared at Divine. "Divine, don't be sad. Greg isn't suitable for you. You'll definitely find a better man."

Divine smiled sadly, wiping away tears. "I won't cry anymore. He's not worth my tears."

They cleaned until evening. The institute was closing; the students had left.

Divine suggested, "Olive, let's go together."

Olive shook her head. "Divine, I want to go back to the pharmacy to study. You've worked all day; go home and rest."

Divine wanted to stay, but remembering her lack of interest in medicine, she bid Olive farewell and left.

After Divine left, Olive went to the pharmacy. Unfamiliar with the light switch, she groped her way forward.

"Ouch!" she yelped, bumping into a wall. She covered her forehead and looked up. A white face appeared in the darkness.

"Goodness gracious!" Olive screamed in fright.

The lights flickered on, illuminating the room. Olive saw the man sleeping in the pharmacy. He was young, probably in his early twenties, handsome, and calm.

"Why didn't you make a sound? You startled me," she said.

He didn't respond, simply staring indifferently. He returned to his chair, rested his head on the table, and went back to sleep.

Olive found his behavior odd but quickly looked away at the medicinal substances. She began memorizing their names but, exhausted, fell asleep in her chair.

Silence filled the pharmacy. The sleeping man awoke, picked up his book, and began reading.

A man in black entered. "Young Master," he said, "I brought you supper." He respectfully offered a flask of noodles.

The man didn't look up, muttering coldly, "Go."

"Young Master, if you don't want this, I can get you something else. And you've been in New York for a while; it's time to go home."

"Go," the man repeated.

For some reason, the man in black hastily left.

The man found the medical book boring, closed it, stood up, and approached Olive. She wore a mask; her black hair framed her cheeks. He reached out and removed it.

Olive's phone on the table rang. He glanced at the screen; it displayed "Mr. Augustine." He replaced her mask.

Olive awoke to the persistent ringing. She sat up; the man was gone.

She answered her phone. "Hello, Mr. Augustine."

Elvis's low, charismatic voice answered. "Why so late? If you'd delayed any longer, I'd have been catching an adulterer."

"Mr. Augustine, your imagination is wild. I'm still at the research institute. I was exhausted and dozed off. You have nothing to worry about," she said softly.

"I'll pick you up," Elvis said, his tone softer.

"No, no need. I need to study. In three days, I have Director Hudson's task. Everyone wants me to fail, so I'll be studying overtime."

Elvis didn't push it, changing the subject. "How many handsome guys did you meet today? I hear there are many wealthy ones there."

Olive felt that besides his aggression, Elvis had a strong desire to control her. She'd always done things her way, and he'd allowed it, but now he was strict about her male friends.
