Chapter 96

"Mr. Augustine, you're such an idiot," Olive muttered.

A ringtone sounded on the other end and was quickly answered. Olive suspected he'd been waiting for her call. However, when he answered, Elvis remained silent.

"Hello? Mr. Augustine, why don't you say anything?" she asked.

Elvis's deep, magnetic voice, slightly hoarse, replied, "I thought you wouldn't call me anymore."

Olive bit her lip. His self-awareness, and the events of that night, made her ashamed to have called.

"Huh?" she mumbled, trying to dispel the awkwardness.

The receptionist watched Olive intently, unsure who she was calling but certain it wasn't the CEO. She concluded Olive was speaking to her boyfriend and disliked what she perceived as her inappropriate behavior. She decided to expose Olive to Elvis upon his arrival.

A convoy of luxurious cars slowly entered the corporation. The guards quickly stepped out and respectfully opened the doors. Elvis had returned.

"Oh my gosh, the CEO is back!" the receptionist exclaimed, her eyes lighting up.

Olive, seated in the waiting area, witnessed the commotion. The elevator doors opened, and the company executives, in suits, emerged, heading to greet someone. Olive turned and saw Elvis outside through the window.

He had just arrived from his private hangar, dressed in a formal suit, white shirt, dark blue business vest, and black thin woolen coat.

The executives began to speak, but Andrew interrupted, raising his hand and winking, indicating the CEO was on a call. They fell silent, wondering who he was speaking with.

Elvis held his phone tighter, murmuring, "Olive, I'm sorry for that night."

Olive could clearly see him. She pursed her lips. "Mr. Augustine, you're apologizing over the phone. I don't feel the sincerity of your apology at all."

Elvis licked his lips. He'd been avoiding her but longed to see her.

"I'll see you later, okay?" he said soothingly.

Olive's heart ached. She understood why he'd been avoiding her.

"You don't have to look for me anymore," she replied, her voice sharper.

"Understood. I won't harass you anymore. Don't worry, Grandma understands everything now. Our marriage was only a contract; if you want, we can get a lawyer to dissolve it," Elvis said calmly, his left hand in his pocket.

Olive interrupted, "If you really don't want to harass me again, don't mention that again."

"Olive, I can compensate you if you want. Jewelry, diamonds, aircraft—you can even have my credit card. I won't take it back."

Olive stared at him through the window. "You really are generous. So you want to break up with me, and you think material things can compensate?"

"Olive, with my card, you can buy anything you want for the rest of your life," he said.

Olive was speechless. He was as domineering as ever.

"Mr. Augustine, no need to look for me later. I'm already here."

Elvis seemed jolted. He turned and searched for her. The executives watched, stunned.

"Where are you? I can't see you."

Olive watched him search. "Don't be daft, look up, will you?"

Elvis looked up and saw her by the window, staring at him. He hung up and quickly walked over. His tall frame stopped before her.

"Why are you here?" he asked.

Olive lifted her face. "Maybe I could have waited outside for you."

The receptionist froze. "What was going on? Could it be that this girl was on the phone with the CEO?" she wondered.

Elvis's eyes reddened, and he stared fiercely at Olive. "What are you doing here? Have you thought about the consequences?"
