When I opened my eyes, sunlight streamed onto my face, making it impossible to see or sleep. I lifted my pillow and placed it over my face for relief. However, I couldn't sleep any longer because someone knocked on my door.
"Young Miss," one of my maids called. The sound jolted me awake; it felt like a sharp noise in my head.
"Leave me. I'll wake up later," I mumbled into the pillow.
"Young Miss, Alpha is calling you. You need to wake up."
I remained still, almost drifting back to sleep, but another knock prevented me. I threw the pillow aside, sitting up angrily.
"What?" I yelled, my voice hoarse.
The yell caused a sharp pain in my throat and a throbbing headache. "Come in," I said loudly enough for the maid to hear.
After receiving my permission, the maid entered with a tray holding a glass of water and a mug of coffee. (The following sentence was unintelligible and has been omitted.)
While examining a pill, I asked the maid, "What medicine is this?"
"For your headache."
I frowned. "How did my brother know I had a headache?"
"You came home drunk last night."
My eyes widened. I remembered the previous night's events. "Oh, yes. You're right."
The maid chuckled. I cleared my throat. "Why are you laughing?"
She lowered her head. "Young Miss, you were behaving childishly last night."
I blinked, trying to understand. "Did my babies see me?"
She shook her head, reassuring me. "Okay, you can leave now," I said.
She bowed and left. I rubbed my forehead, recalling last night. One person immediately came to mind. The thought of him seeing me drunk made my jaw drop.
"Oh, no! Doctor Max saw me drunk!" I patted my cheeks. "What did he think of me?" All my efforts to impress him at the council party were ruined.
"Natalia, what did you do? If you can't handle alcohol, you shouldn't drink!" I scolded myself. I checked the time and cursed; I was late for work. I'd never overslept before.
I noticed a message from Eric. He'd told Damia I wouldn't be at the company today. I felt terrible. Everyone was trying to make me responsible, yet I'd acted so foolishly.
I quickly drank the water and pill to ease my headache. After getting out of bed, I rushed to the bathroom for a quick shower. My brother would be furious.
After showering, I put on a simple dress and left my room for the living room. I was mortified at the thought of facing my brother.
In the living room, my children saw me and ran towards me. I embraced them, and they led me to the couch. I avoided my brother's gaze, very nervous—more so than before a major deal announcement.
"Brother, I'm sorry," I mumbled.
"Mommy, why are you apologizing to Uncle? Did you do something bad?" Aria asked.
I nodded. "Yes, Mommy was bad. She hurt your Uncle Jason."
I glanced at Jason. Seeing his silent scrutiny, I smiled at my twins and asked them to go to their room. "Mommy needs to talk to Uncle Jason. Can you both go to your room?"
"Yes, Mommy," Noah replied.
They ran to their room. I turned back to my brother, who remained unmoved. I stood and sat beside him, taking his hand.
"Brother, please forgive me."
He rolled his eyes. I pouted. "Please, brother? Am I not your little baby? Can't you forgive your sister?"
He pushed me away. "You were alone with another man. What if he took advantage of you?"
I hugged his arm. "Brother, don't be mad at Doctor Max. He's not a bad guy; he helped me get into the car."
He tilted his head. "Is he the reason you won't accept Eric?"
My eyes widened. I shook my head. "What? No, brother. I've never thought of him like that."
He patted my head. "I can do anything for my sister. If you like someone, tell your brother. I'll accept—"
He was interrupted by his officials entering. "Alpha!"
I looked at them. They approached, and I glanced at Eric, who briefly looked at me before turning his attention back to Jason. Gesturing towards the gate, he announced, "He has arrived at the pack house."
I frowned, unsure who he meant. Looking outside, I saw several luxury cars arrive. Guards opened the back door of a car in the center, and a man in a black suit emerged, radiating power.
My brother muttered, "Alpha Adrian." (The final promotional sentence has been removed.)
