Natalia’s POV
When Beta Patric spoke to me about the alliance, I was stunned. How could they approach our pack? Why were they so eager?
In my opinion, Adrian should have left yesterday after my brother treated him with disdain and refused to let him stay in the pack house. I expected him to leave, but why was he still here? What was his motive?
That's why I waited before heading to the meeting hall, arriving after they'd already gathered. The guards couldn't stop me; I'm the head Alpha's sister.
However, I didn't enter the hall; I simply stood outside and overheard the conversation.
Patric's explanation impressed me. I'd never heard such a proposal before. Later, when an alpha inquired about the war, Adrian offered his personal assistance.
I was shocked. Was he serious? Finding an alpha willing to fight in another alpha's war was unheard of. It was usually an opportunity for destruction.
I expected my brother, Jason, to give the deal to the Crystal Blood Pack. As a businesswoman, I knew the best course of action. Instead of agreeing with Adrian, Jason laughed.
To get a better view, I gently pushed open the door. Many men sat at the table, appearing perplexed. My eyes fell on Adrian, who looked confused.
"Alpha Adrian Miller, you're a joke," Jason said, continuing to laugh. "How could my pack possibly need you? I'm enough to protect it. A man defeated by my sister, who lost projects to her, offering support in a war? You've got to be kidding."
My eyes widened. My brother shouldn't have said that in front of others. It was incredibly disrespectful!
"What are you doing, brother?" I muttered, watching him.
Adrian's officials stood. Patric growled at Jason, astonishing everyone. Eric retaliated, "How dare you growl at my Alpha?" he demanded, glaring at Patric.
Patric, angry, responded, "Tell your Alpha to control his tongue. Has he forgotten who he's talking to?"
I glanced at Adrian, fearing a fight with my brother. He remained calm, raising his hand to stop the argument between the betas.
"Sit down, everyone. Let Alpha Jason speak," Adrian said, looking at Jason.
His officials, though reluctant, obeyed their Alpha's order.
"It's true Alpha Jason is powerful. Maybe he doesn't need my help. It's okay. We shouldn't argue; it might have hurt his ego." Adrian's voice was calm and controlled.
"What do you want, Alpha Adrian?" Jason asked, rising to his feet. He looked careless about Adrian's reputation, his gaze settling on Alpha Leo.
"This alliance goes to the Moon Stone Pack. Congratulations, Alpha Leo," Jason announced.
This shocked everyone. Adrian, unable to contain himself, stood and said, "I object."
"This isn't a court. It's my pack meeting, and I decide who gets the deal," Jason retorted.
"You can't give the deal away without a reason."
"I don't like your deal."
"We can discuss."
"Why do you need this alliance?"
"I want it. I desire this alliance, and you can change the clauses if you like."
I shook my head, rubbing my forehead. "What are you up to, Adrian?" I muttered, watching the unfolding situation. I wanted no fighting.
"There's no way I'd link my pack with yours. You're not good enough. Many Alphas here could kill you in a war. Your father just handed you a large pack; that's why others obey you."
Jason's words were bitter. He glanced at other Alphas, who stood in fear as the argument escalated.
"By the way, Alpha Adrian is quite unrealistic. I heard he was married years ago, but his wife left him" Jason trailed off, implying something about Adrian's personal life, hinting at potential issues with his engagement, wedding, or health.
"Alpha Jason, watch your mouth," Adrian's gamma warned, his eyes changing color.
Frustrated, I looked away, attempting to mentally contact my brother to stop him. He'd blocked all mental links, as had his officials, to focus on the meeting. I continued to try, but Adrian's angry voice froze me.
"You don't have to worry about my wife."
"Ex-wife," Eric corrected.
I looked back at the hall. Adrian glared at Eric, who rolled his eyes. Adrian turned to Jason, giving a stern warning:
"Fuck your alliance. You'll regret this."
