"Excuse me?" I was shocked by his remarks. How could he say that to me?
"Stop acting innocent," he sneered. "Does your fiancé know where you are? Do you intend to—"
I laughed, a wild, hysterical sound. This man was infuriating!
"A man who cheated on his wife and lived with his mistress will lecture me on loyalty?"
He scoffed, a devilish smirk playing on his lips. His aura was both cold and deadly.
"If I did that, what about you? What about your bastard children?"
My eyes widened. He'd brought my children into this again.
"How dare you mention my children?" I demanded, my voice sharp.
My anger made me loud. Adrian turned, his gaze sweeping the cafeteria. People stood and began to leave. As I started to rise, he grabbed my hand, holding it under the table.
"Where are you going? After insulting me in front of my pack doctors, you want to run?" His eyes flashed red, sending a tremor through me.
"Leave my hand," I said.
"Don't you have the strength to remove it yourself?"
I struggled, but he was too strong.
"WHAT DO YOU WANT, ADRIAN?" I yelled.
Fortunately, the cafeteria was nearly empty. Otherwise, this man would have made a scene.
Surprisingly, his grip loosened. I didn't understand why my yell affected him so much. Was he afraid?
He stood and walked to Harold's chair. Then he stood, turned, and started to leave.
"Did I give you permission to leave?"
Ignoring him, I continued toward the exit.
"Don't forget you're in my pack. My hands aren't tied," his warning stopped me. "I'll cage you in the dungeon, and no Alpha or Beta will rescue you."
If it weren't for Alpha Lucas, I never would have joined this pack. And now this man was blackmailing me!
Should I call my brother? It would only cause a war between packs.
With a clenched jaw, I turned to him.
"What do you want?" I asked angrily.
He pointed to my chair. "Sit."
I stomped my foot and returned to the table, then sat. "Now what?"
He pushed a plate of food towards me. "Eat."
I frowned. "What?"
"Eat your meal. Or are you going to waste food?"
"Do you think I have an appetite after looking at your face?"
His eyes returned to black. His wolf seemed about to take over, but he controlled himself. He simply stared.
A growl rumbled in my stomach. I was starving, but not enough to tolerate him. I remembered running through the forest, hungry. I remembered leaving his pack, the pain and suffering.
Didn't he say he didn't care if I died when my father contacted him? Now he wants me to eat? I thought.
Tears welled in my eyes. I tightened my fists. Showing him my tears is the last thing I want.
He watched me, unwavering, as if he wanted to see my tears fall. Why is he affecting me so much? No, I can't show weakness.
I broke eye contact, blinked away my tears, and took a deep breath. I decided to leave after seeing Uncle Lucas and Auntie Grace if I just ate.
I picked up my spoon and ate quietly. The cafeteria was silent.
Then I heard a sound. Adrian had lit a cigarette and was smoking. What did he want?
Ignoring him, I continued eating. Why am I wasting my time on him? I'm eating because I'm hungry, I told myself.
After finishing, I grabbed water, pointedly ignoring him. But as I started to drink, he asked, "Who is the father of your children?"
