An angry growl escaped Adrian's lips. Lynda's knees trembled. Within seconds, she fell to her knees in submission.
"Where did you get those photos?" Adrian demanded.
"O-One of my friends recognized her and took the photos," Lynda stammered. "They said Alpha Jason was calling her 'baby.' They looked very close."
Adrian clenched his fists. He was baffled by his own reaction to this woman. Didn't he know Natalia was like this? She had children with another man. After everything, why did she still affect him so deeply? He was furious with himself. He turned his attention back to Lynda.
"When were the photos taken?"
Lynda raised her head. "Last night," she replied.
"Then why did you wait all day to show me these photos?"
"She sent them to me an hour ago. She said she overheard them talking about a cure. Natalia asked if Alpha Jason had brought it."
Adrian was silent for a moment, then commanded, "Raise yourself."
She stood and tried to approach him, but he raised a hand. "Go home. I don't want to talk about this now."
Lynda nodded and left. As she walked to her car, a pleased expression crossed her face.
"Natalia, you fortunate woman! Adrian ruined my plan and saved you from death's door. But for how long? I have another plan"
She laughed and got into her car. Her driver glanced at her, curious about her laughter, but her glare silenced him, and he began to drive. He knew she wasn't the gentle woman she pretended to be around the Alpha.
Meanwhile, Adrian's mind raced. He called the hotel and requested the previous night's CCTV footage. It was sent to him within minutes. He went to his study, opened his laptop, and watched the footage from the hotel's security camera.
When he saw Alpha Jason and Natalia hugging, his eyes darkened. He clicked on the footage from inside the hotel. He was shocked to see Natalia lead Alpha Jason to her room.
Adrian slammed his laptop shut, stood, and went to the window. He dialed a number.
"Find out if Alpha Jason has Doctor Max's cure."
After the call, he lit a cigarette and stared out the window. The moon shone an orange hue, casting a dark light over the forest. He remained transfixed for a long time.
After half an hour, his men called to inform him that the Blue Blood Pack and the Blood Moon Pack had formed an alliance months ago. Adrian ended the call and continued to stare out the window. He didn't notice the sky clearing.
Natalia awoke in a hospital bed. She tried to lift her hand but felt pain in her right hand.
"Be careful. Your hand is healing slowly," a nurse said.
Natalia hissed, lifting her left hand to her head. "It hurts," she mumbled, trying to sit up. The nurse helped her, placing a pillow behind her back.
"Thank you," Natalia said.
The nurse smiled. "You were badly injured last night. The Alpha brought you here. He seemed very worried and didn't leave your side."
Natalia looked away, remembering Adrian's rescue. She should thank him.
"You're lucky your body wasn't more severely injured; otherwise, you could have been paralyzed."
"Thank you for saving me."
"No, no. Doctor Harold treated you. You have a few stitches in your head that will take time to heal."
Natalia learned about her injuries. She would thank Harold. Suddenly, the door burst open, revealing Adrian. He glanced at the nurse, who bowed and left.
Natalia's eyes fell on his bandaged hands. She realized he'd been hurt saving her.
She cleared her throat as he approached. "For what you did last night…" she paused, then continued, "Thank you, Alpha Adrian." Her voice was formal.
"I don't need your thanks," Adrian said, tossing several photos onto the bed.
Natalia flinched, grabbing the scattered photos in shock. They showed her and her brother.
"These photos—"
"Why did you sleep with that man?" Adrian interrupted.
Her eyes widened. She shook her head. "What are you saying?"
Adrian moved closer. She tried to move back, but the pillow pinned her against the bed.
"Why?" he pressed.
Natalia tried to remain calm. "You're misunderstanding."
Adrian glared at her. His gaze fell on her head wound, and he stepped back. He nodded.
"You did that to get the cure, didn't you? If I'd known you'd sleep with another man to get it, I never would have let you help my father."
