Adrian's POV

After leaving the party in a foul mood, I got into my car. "Start the car," I ordered my driver.

He started the car immediately. My phone rang. I saw it was Patric, but ignored the call, looking out the window to compose myself. "How dare her father and brother keep warning me? What about their daughter's debauchery?" I thought, clenching my fists.

Natalia's suggestion that I marry Lynda on the terrace still stunned me. Lynda hadn't seemed to care at all—she spoke about it so casually, as if I were a stranger. Why, then, had I been angry seeing her without a man? Why had I even cared?

I decided to stop caring. She should live her life with her children and their father.

My phone continued to ring, stopping and starting again. This time it was Lynda. In anger, I switched it off. I didn't want to talk to anyone.

"Alpha, where to?" my driver asked.

"Anywhere," I muttered angrily.

Natalia's face flashed in my mind, and I remembered her calling herself useless to me. Hadn't I called her useless because she'd trapped me in that marriage? I ran my fingers through my hair in frustration.

From the beginning, she'd plotted against me. First, she married me, then pretended to be in love. When she couldn't control her desires, she slept with someone else, divorced me, and ran away with the children. Now her family acted as if I was the one who hurt her?

I closed my eyes, restless and unwell. No one had ever made me feel this way.

I glared at my driver when his phone rang. He gulped, glancing at me in the rearview mirror, and went to hang up. However, seeing the caller ID, he said, "It's Beta Patric."

I wanted to tell him to hang up, but he answered before I could speak. "Beta Patric? Yes, Alpha is with me."

He pulled over and turned to me, handing me his phone. "Alpha, Beta Patric wants to talk to you."

I stared at him, refusing the phone. His fear was palpable; he realized he shouldn't have answered. He started to apologize to Patric, but I snatched the phone and ended the call.

"Restart the car and focus on the road, not your phone," I said.

He nodded and restarted the car. I saw Patric calling again, this time on my driver's phone. I answered.

"What?"

"Adrian, where are you? Are you okay?"

"Am I five years old?"

"No, but you looked terrifying leaving the party. You left Lynda and me outside."

"Go back to the Crystal Blood Pack with her."

"Where are you? Aren't you coming with us?"

I glanced at the road. My driver had taken my "anywhere" literally; he was driving toward the border.

"I'll be back soon."

Patric was silent for a moment. "Take care of yourself. Don't mind Alpha Martin. He's your ex-father-in-law; of course he's angry. I bet he didn't like hearing about his daughters' divorce either."

I rolled my eyes. "I didn't initiate the divorce. His daughter wasn't a saint. She has fucking children!"

My shout made my driver jerk the car. I scowled, and he concentrated on the road.

"Chill out, Adrian. Where are you? Tell me. I won't leave you alone like this. You're furious."

"Go back. I'll return when I want."

I ended the call and tossed the phone into the passenger seat. "Where are we going?" I asked my driver.

"A-Alpha, you said anywhere. So I thought you'd like to stay at a hotel tonight."

"Hmm."

I leaned back, closing my eyes. I just needed to clear my head. I have nothing left for that woman. Since she wants to move on, which she already has, I won't bother her again, I thought.

My driver took me to the best hotel in the Blue Blood Pack, and I rented a room. Despite myself, I thought about Natalia all night. She didn't leave my mind for a second.

The next day, I decided to return to my pack. After checking out, I told my driver to head back to the Crystal Blood Pack.

He set the navigation and began driving. While using my phone, I saw Natalia's pictures in the Blue Blood Pack news headlines. Many photos, some from the previous night, showed her in a black backless dress that highlighted her figure.

I looked away, trying to distract myself. As I glanced out the window, I saw something.

"STOP THE CAR!"

My driver slammed on the brakes. "What happened, Alpha?" he asked, shocked.

I didn't answer, getting out of the car and rushing toward a little girl crying in the middle of the road. Cars whizzed past her. My anger flared—why hadn't they stopped to help?

As I reached her, she looked at me with wide eyes and hugged my legs. I picked her up. "Aria? What are you doing here?"
