Chapter 1094

Aubree followed Frieda's advice. That afternoon, she went to the Farwell residence, purchasing cakes for Estella en route. Arriving at the manor, she pressed the doorbell.

Catalina hesitated, then opened the door, remembering Lucian's instructions. "Ms. Pearson," she greeted respectfully, stepping back slightly and avoiding Aubree's gaze. Their past encounters had been strained.

Noticing Catalina's avoidance, Aubree sneered, "You're quick to open the door this time."

Catalina remained silent. "Where's Lucian? Is he home?" Aubree asked, dismissing Catalina; she planned to fire her after marrying Lucian.

"Mr. Farwell went to the office early this morning for overtime," Catalina replied. Lucian had instructed her to allow Aubree entry at any time.

Aubree nodded, glancing towards the stairs. "How about Essie? I'm here to see her."

Catalina, though tense, answered truthfully, "Ms. Estella is in her bedroom."

Aubree, cake in hand, ignored Catalina and went upstairs, followed closely. Lucian had warned her not to leave Estella alone with Aubree; he still harbored reservations about her.

Aubree stopped, exasperated by Catalina's presence. "Why are you following me? Do you think I'll hurt Essie?"

"Mr. Farwell asked me to keep a close watch on Ms. Estella. She hasn't been feeling well these past few days," Catalina explained.

Aubree, though displeased by the mention of Lucian, said nothing. Reaching Estella's bedroom, she knocked and waited.

Estella opened the door, surprised to see Aubree instead of Catalina. Her expression stiffened into alarm. Aubree, noticing this, felt dismayed but remembered Frieda's advice, suppressing her animosity. She knelt, saying, "Essie, look! I brought you cakes. Do you want them downstairs or in your room?" She waved the cakes, hoping to entice the girl.

Estella remained indifferent, her gaze fixed on Catalina; she clearly wanted to avoid being alone with Aubree. Catalina, unsure how to proceed, knew she couldn't leave Estella with Aubree.

Aubree's patience waned with Estella's lack of response, but she persevered. "You don't like cakes? How about a ride this afternoon? We can visit Grandma," she offered.

But Estella's aversion to Aubree intensified at the mention of Sonya.
