Chapter 1117
Archie and Benny lingered in the bathroom before leaving. Roxanne was still conversing with Jack. Sheโd wanted him to depart quickly, but heโd begun discussing ancient medical texts. Roxanne's passion for medicine captivated her, and the conversation flowed. Only Lysa's announcement of dinner broke the spell.
"Would you like to stay for dinner, Mr. Damaris?" Roxanne politely inquired.
Jack raised an eyebrow, noticing Archie and Benny standing near the kitchen, glaring intensely at him. Despite their fierce expressions, their youthful appearance rendered them adorable. Chuckling, Jack drawled, "Thank you for the invitation, Ms. Jarvisโ"
Benny interrupted, "I don't feel like eating, Mommy! I want to call Daddy!"
Jack paused, giving Roxanne a quizzical look. Caught off guard, she panicked momentarily before regaining her composure. "I'm sorry, Iโ"
Jack understandingly interrupted, "It's alright. I think the kids might be unwell. You should check on them."
Roxanne offered a grateful smile before leading Archie and Benny upstairs.
"Are you boys feeling unwell? Come on, let's go upstairs so I can have a look at you," she said, ushering them toward the stairs.
As they followed, Archie and Benny shot a cautious glance at Jack, who responded with a nonchalant smile. Roxanne's smile vanished upstairs, replaced by a stern expression that softened into a helpless sigh at their defiant gazes.
"Archie, Benny, Mr. Damaris is a guest, remember? You two need to be polite to him."
"But you said Mr. Damaris was leaving soon! Why did you have him stay for dinner?" Benny demanded, frowning.
"I did so out of courtesy. Besides, you heard our conversation; we were discussing medicine," Roxanne replied, aware of their dislike for Jack and surprised by their blatant display of it. The thought of Benny's earlier words caused her a headache. "Also, I only promised to call Mr. Farwell. I didn't say he was your daddy, so don't make things up."
Benny threw a tantrum, "I don't care! I want Mr. Farwell to be my daddy!"
