Chapter 1136

โ€œMommy, please donโ€™t dislike Mr. Farwell,โ€ Benny pleaded, tugging at her sleeve. Devastated by Roxanneโ€™s earlier response, he continued, โ€œEven though Mr. Farwell has made you angry, he still cares a lot about you. Every time you were sick, he was always by your side.โ€

His words sparked a flicker in Roxanneโ€™s eyes, tugging at her heart. It was true; since her return, Lucian had been there for her whenever she was unwell. Before that, sheโ€™d had no one to care for her except the children, doing their clumsy best.

โ€œI canโ€™t deny that Lucian has given me a sense of security, butโ€ฆโ€

Oblivious to her internal struggle, Benny mumbled, โ€œMr. Farwell treats you very well, and he doesnโ€™t let usโ€ฆโ€

Archieโ€™s sharp poke interrupted him. Biting his tongue, Benny hastily changed the subject. โ€œNo matter what, Mr. Farwell is the best. Can you stop quarreling with him already?โ€

Roxanneโ€™s brow furrowed. โ€œWhat did you mean just now? What else did Mr. Farwell do?โ€

Benny hung his head, guilt evident. The expression on his face only piqued Roxanneโ€™s curiosity further. Archie realized it was too late to cover Bennyโ€™s slip; further attempts would only heighten Roxanneโ€™s suspicions.

โ€œIt was Mr. Farwell who took care of you when you were drunk,โ€ Archie stated frankly.

His words triggered Roxanneโ€™s memory of that night. Sheโ€™d initially dismissed it as a dream, never expecting it to be real. The question remained: when had he left?

โ€œMommy, Benny is right. Can you stop fighting with Mr. Farwell?โ€ Archie smoothly shifted the topic. โ€œWe really like playing with Essie. Every time you two quarrel, we canโ€™t see her.โ€

The mention of Estella distracted Roxanne, who offered Archie an apologetic glance. Can whatโ€™s happening between Lucian and me even be called a quarrel? Perhaps in the past, but given Lucianโ€™s stance, itโ€™s clear he wants to end things. It was a reality Roxanne couldnโ€™t ignore, but she didnโ€™t know how to explain it to the boys.

โ€œIโ€™m sorry, I didnโ€™t want things to turn out this way either, but itโ€™s not as simple as you think,โ€ she explained, her face pale.

Archie nodded understandingly. โ€œI understand, Mommy. But can you convince Mr. Farwell to let Essie return to kindergarten?โ€

A conflicted expression clouded Roxanneโ€™s face. โ€œDarling, Mr. Farwell is Essieโ€™s father, and he has his reasons for transferring her.โ€

โ€œHe doesnโ€™t want Essie to see us because you two are fighting,โ€ Archie countered.

Roxanne was surprised by Archieโ€™s knowledge and boldness.

โ€œI feel Essie shouldnโ€™t have been moved so suddenly. If Mr. Farwell doesnโ€™t want her to see us, weโ€™re willing to transfer out instead,โ€ Archie declared.
