Chapter 1138
Perhaps her concern for Estella's well-being prompted Roxanne to rise early, despite a late night. Downstairs, she found Archie and Benny awaiting her. Seeing them, she was reminded of the phone call sheโd almost made the previous evening.
Benny's face lit up. "Mommy! Have you called Mr. Farwell?"
Roxanne's eyes softened; a small smile played on her lips. "I haven't," she said apologetically. "I was thinking of visiting Essie at kindergarten first." A thought struck her. "Do you know which kindergarten she's in now?"
She suspected the boys already knew, given their concern. Benny nodded calmly, confirming he'd learned of Estella's transfer the following day.
Relief washed over Roxanne. She'd worried about finding Estella's new kindergarten, but Benny's knowledge reassured her of his resourcefulness. "Send me the address later," she instructed.
"Mommy, are you going to visit Essie?"
Roxanne nodded. "Well, aren't you guys worried about her being bullied? I'll check on her for you."
"Can Archie and I come?" Benny asked quickly.
Roxanne shook her head. "You need to go to class. I'll tell you about her when I get home." It seemed too much of a fuss for all three of them to go.
The boys were understandably disappointed. Benny started to protest, but Archie stopped him.
"We'll leave it to you, Mommy," he said sweetly. "Please tell her we'll visit next time." He understood his mother's visit was sufficient.
Roxanne sighed in relief, smiling at the boys. "All right. I'll tell her."
After breakfast, Benny sent the address. Roxanne took the boys to school, then briefly updated Colby at the research institute before heading to Estella's new kindergarten. Lucian's interference was evident; the kindergarten was much farther away than the previous one, in the opposite direction from Farwell Group.
After a half-hour drive, she arrived. The security guard, sensing her authority and knowledge of Estella's name, admitted her without question.
The kindergarten had small classes; Estella's had only a dozen children. During recess, the classroom was chaotic. Children ran about; one child cried while Pamela attempted to comfort them. Estella was initially nowhere to be seen, but Roxanne eventually spotted her amidst the playing children, seemingly happily engaged.
