Chapter 1145

"May I know your last name?" Pamela asked, suddenly looking at Roxanne.

"Jarvis," Roxanne replied hoarsely.

Relieved, Pamela hurriedly contacted Lucian. She had never known the Farwell family to have any connection with a Jarvis, concluding this woman couldn't be Essie's relative. Fortunately, she'd called Mr. Farwell to confirm, but he fell silent after hearing Roxanne's surname. This worried her; she wondered if she'd done something wrong.

"Get her to wait. I'm heading over now," Lucian's deep voice cut through the phone, before Pamela could apologize. Confused, she hastily agreed. Roxanne noticed Pamela's gaze and her heart sank.

After hanging up, Pamela looked solemnly at Roxanne. "Mr. Farwell said he'll be here soon. Please leave Estella to me." Lucian's tone had made Pamela subconsciously suspect Roxanne was an enemy of the Farwells.

Roxanne, however, only heard the first part of Pamela's sentence. Stunned, she didn't respond. Pamela grew anxious, reaching for Estella, but the little girl clung to Roxanne's legs.

"Essie, come over here. Your daddy will be here soon," Pamela urged.

"Ms. Jarvis," Estella looked pitifully at Roxanne as Pamela tugged. This address further distressed Pamela. What was the relationship between this woman and Essie? Her anxiety growing, she gently increased her grip.

Roxanne finally reacted, gently taking Pamela's wrist. "Don't worry, I won't harm Essie. If you're concerned, call security."

Pamela hesitated. Estella seemed to rely heavily on this woman, yet Mr. Farwell's earlier toneโ€ฆand this woman's identity remained a mystery.

"I believe Mr. Farwell didn't tell you to take Essie away from me, did he?" Roxanne smiled helplessly.

Pamela slowly released her grip. If this woman were dangerous, Mr. Farwell would have instructed her to protect Essie immediately. She simply asked, "What exactly is your relationship with Essie?"

Roxanne offered a faint smile. "You'll know when Mr. Farwell arrives." Pamela realized then that only Lucian's statement held weight; anything Roxanne said would be useless, possibly even deepening Pamela's suspicions.

"Mr. Farwell will take some time. Could you get me a medical kit? I want to treat Essie's hand," Roxanne requested.

Pamela started to leave, but remembering her uncertainty about Roxanne's identity, she paused. Roxanne, guessing Pamela's thoughts, said nothing, tending to Estella's injured hand.
