Chapter 1153
A wave of fury crashed over Aubree at the thought of Lucian and Roxanne together. Why did this woman keep appearing everywhere? However, she forced a smile, unable to express her disgust for Roxanne while Lucian was present.
Roxanne hadn't expected Aubree to call out to her as she was leaving. Ignoring Aubree would have been rude. Pausing, Roxanne turned and greeted her coldly, "It's been a while, Ms. Pearson."
Aubree smiled. "If I remember correctly, your children don't study here. So, what brings you here today, Ms. Jarvis? Are you planning to transfer them to this kindergarten so they can attend school with Essie?"
Roxanne's heart sank. She understood Aubree's implication, even if it wasn't explicitly stated. Aubree was accusing her of using Archie and Benny to get closer to Lucian by transferring them to Estella's kindergarten.
Roxanne denied the accusation immediately. "You're overthinking things, Ms. Pearson. Archie and Benny are doing fine in their school. I have no plans to transfer them, nor the time or energy to do so."
Aubree chuckled casually, affecting a pretense of helpfulness. "It's okay. I can help if you ever decide to transfer your children. Essie enjoys being friends with Archie and Benny. It would be good company for her."
Roxanne's lips twitched. "That won't be necessary. I only came to check on Essie."
"Essie is well cared for. You have nothing to worry about, Ms. Jarvis," Aubree continued coldly. "You have nothing to do with Essie. Moreover, you are Lucian's ex-wife. It's in everyone's best interest for you to keep your distance from Lucian and Essie, as we are getting married soon."
Lucian and Roxanne's faces fell at the mention of their divorce.
Roxanne lowered her eyes and clenched her fists. The memory of raising her two children alone in a foreign country after the divorce resurfaced. The hardships of the past six years solidified into hatred for Lucian and Aubree. She wouldn't be in this mess if it weren't for them. Why was she even concerned about a child Lucian had with another woman now?
A wave of sadness washed over her as she offered a bleak smile.
Aubree, standing beside Lucian, was about to speak again, but Lucian interrupted. "Are you done?"
Aubree gulped, jolted back to reality. She realized her arrogance. "I'm sorry, Lucian. I was worried because Ms. Yaxley told me she saw a suspicious individual enter the kindergarten and interact with Essie."
She shifted the blame onto Pamela and Roxanne brazenly. Then, she turned to Roxanne and said kindly, "It's not that I'm stopping you from visiting Essie. I just hope you'll let me know beforehand so I can inform Ms. Yaxley."
