Chapter 1168
Jack scanned the surroundings, finding no sign of Roxanne. He hastily approached Lucian, who was about to leave.
โWhereโs Ms. Jarvis?โ
Lucian, incredulous at Jack's audacity, stopped and shot him an icy glare. โThatโs none of your business. Stay out of it. Iโll take care of my woman.โ
โLucian Farwell!โ Jack found the man unreasonable. โDo you know what situation Ms. Jarvis is in? She might die! Itโs fine if you donโt want me to treat her, but you should have at least let me go with her! I can still provide emergency treatment en route to the hospital.โ
He noticed Lucian's anger flaring. โI told you, this is none of your business! In fact, Iโd like to know why youโre so worried about my woman!โ
Jack frowned. โHave you been coveting her?โ Lucian snapped.
โRoxanne has explained that she has no romantic feelings for you. She only sees you as a business partner, Mr. Damaris. You should cease acting on these feelings.โ
Lucian glanced at Jack's hand on his arm and snarled, โLet go!โ
Jack ignored him, insisting, โIโll go with you to see her!โ
Lucianโs temper exploded. He punched Jack in the stomach. Jack groaned, instinctively releasing Lucian and clutching his stomach.
โStay away from her! If you keep pestering her, Iโll start wondering if you were responsible for her poisoning,โ Lucian hissed, his gaze grim.
Jack, enduring the pain, gritted out, โDonโt make baseless accusations! If I poisoned her, why would I try to save her? Iโm just worried about Ms. Jarvis!โ
Lucian was already in the car. Without a glance back, he said, โIโve already secured the best doctor and equipment. Thereโs nothing you can do that they canโt.โ
He started the car and drove off. Iโve wasted too much time with Jack. I wonder how Roxanne is now.
Anger pulsed through Jack as he recalled the punches and watched Lucian drive away. I hope Lucian regrets this for the rest of his life if anything happens to Roxanne. As for those punchesโฆ one day, Iโll make him pay.
Just as Jack was stewing, Colby emerged from the research institute, looking around ostentatiously.
โWhy are you alone? Where are Dr. Jarvis and Mr. Farwell? How is Dr. Jarvis?โ
โShut up!โ Jackโs fury intensified at Colbyโs words. Annoyance etched itself onto his face.
Colby froze, tentatively asking, โIs Dr. Jarvisโฆโ
Jack interrupted, โColby, why did the experiment go wrong? What exactly happened?โ
Colby tensed, his neck prickling. Jackโs tone implied he already suspected Colbyโs involvement.
