Chapter 1168

Jack scanned the surroundings, finding no sign of Roxanne. He hastily approached Lucian, who was about to leave.

โ€œWhereโ€™s Ms. Jarvis?โ€

Lucian, incredulous at Jack's audacity, stopped and shot him an icy glare. โ€œThatโ€™s none of your business. Stay out of it. Iโ€™ll take care of my woman.โ€

โ€œLucian Farwell!โ€ Jack found the man unreasonable. โ€œDo you know what situation Ms. Jarvis is in? She might die! Itโ€™s fine if you donโ€™t want me to treat her, but you should have at least let me go with her! I can still provide emergency treatment en route to the hospital.โ€

He noticed Lucian's anger flaring. โ€œI told you, this is none of your business! In fact, Iโ€™d like to know why youโ€™re so worried about my woman!โ€

Jack frowned. โ€œHave you been coveting her?โ€ Lucian snapped.

โ€œRoxanne has explained that she has no romantic feelings for you. She only sees you as a business partner, Mr. Damaris. You should cease acting on these feelings.โ€

Lucian glanced at Jack's hand on his arm and snarled, โ€œLet go!โ€

Jack ignored him, insisting, โ€œIโ€™ll go with you to see her!โ€

Lucianโ€™s temper exploded. He punched Jack in the stomach. Jack groaned, instinctively releasing Lucian and clutching his stomach.

โ€œStay away from her! If you keep pestering her, Iโ€™ll start wondering if you were responsible for her poisoning,โ€ Lucian hissed, his gaze grim.

Jack, enduring the pain, gritted out, โ€œDonโ€™t make baseless accusations! If I poisoned her, why would I try to save her? Iโ€™m just worried about Ms. Jarvis!โ€

Lucian was already in the car. Without a glance back, he said, โ€œIโ€™ve already secured the best doctor and equipment. Thereโ€™s nothing you can do that they canโ€™t.โ€

He started the car and drove off. Iโ€™ve wasted too much time with Jack. I wonder how Roxanne is now.

Anger pulsed through Jack as he recalled the punches and watched Lucian drive away. I hope Lucian regrets this for the rest of his life if anything happens to Roxanne. As for those punchesโ€ฆ one day, Iโ€™ll make him pay.

Just as Jack was stewing, Colby emerged from the research institute, looking around ostentatiously.

โ€œWhy are you alone? Where are Dr. Jarvis and Mr. Farwell? How is Dr. Jarvis?โ€

โ€œShut up!โ€ Jackโ€™s fury intensified at Colbyโ€™s words. Annoyance etched itself onto his face.

Colby froze, tentatively asking, โ€œIs Dr. Jarvisโ€ฆโ€

Jack interrupted, โ€œColby, why did the experiment go wrong? What exactly happened?โ€

Colby tensed, his neck prickling. Jackโ€™s tone implied he already suspected Colbyโ€™s involvement.
