Chapter 1240

The question only served to infuriate Aubree further. “Lucian told me about it!”

Frieda was shocked. “Really? He wouldn't tell you something like that.”

Aubree’s glare silenced Frieda. Knowing Lucian, she doubted he would allow Aubree near his daughter after entrusting Estella to Roxanne. She found Aubree's claim unbelievable.

Aubree scowled. “He didn’t say it directly. He mentioned Essie was with Mrs. Farwell, who hadn’t contacted me. He’s lying!”

Frieda found the situation equally suspicious. Fearful of Aubree’s impulsiveness, she suggested, “Why not call Mrs. Farwell? Essie might be there.”

Aubree’s scowl deepened, prompting Frieda to change her approach. “If Lucian lied, tell Mrs. Farwell. Doesn't she deserve to know, considering Lucian sending Essie to Roxanne is a serious matter?”

Aubree, her brow furrowed, considered Frieda’s words. She decided to call Sonya.

Sonya answered promptly. “What’s the matter, Aubree?”

Aubree, regaining her composure, spoke with concern. “Mrs. Farwell, Essie’s teacher said she’s been absent for days. Lucian said she’s with you. Is she unwell?”

Sonya’s brow furrowed. “Isn’t Essie with you two?”

Though expecting the answer, Aubree felt disheartened. Maintaining a pretense of understanding, she replied, “I’ve been busy. I might have misunderstood. I’ll call Lucian.”

After some polite conversation, Aubree ended the call, fearing a loss of control.

Frieda, watching Aubree’s grim expression, felt tense. Before she could speak, Aubree smashed her phone. “It’s that bitch again! Lucian must have sent Essie to her!”

Panic seized Frieda. “How’s that possible? Even if she’s been discharged, she’s weak. Why would Lucian send Essie to her?”

Frieda’s words triggered Aubree’s recollection of Estella’s worry for Roxanne.

Instead of Lucian’s idea, that little bitch probably asked for it. She might be caring for Roxanne right now!

Rage consumed Aubree. “Instead of guessing, let’s see what that little bitch is up to!”

Aubree stormed out, leaving Frieda speechless.

I’ve treated that little snitch well, yet she clings to someone else. When I become Mrs. Farwell, I’ll skin her alive!
