Chapter 1254
โLet me help you.โ
Lucian retrieved the kitchen knife, his senses returning. The sight of him, a nobleman in his tailored shirt and trousers, wielding a kitchen knife felt incongruous. He looked utterly out of place.
Roxanne watched, speechless. She had intended to treat him coldly after his earlier dismissal, but his actions left her stunned.
He clumsily sliced the vegetables, clearly unaccustomed to the task. He doubled the time it would normally take Roxanne.
Just as Lucian was about to continue, Roxanne recovered. โPlease, let me finish.โ
He stepped aside, aware of his culinary ineptitude. Roxanne felt awkward under his gaze, her movements stiff.
โAre you regretting your actions?โ Lucian asked suddenly.
His question startled her, nearly causing her to drop the pan. Before disaster struck, Lucian caught her hand. โDid you regret letting me off so easily?โ
His words hit their mark, leaving her speechless. She tensed, fearing another bitter parting. But Lucian tightened his grip. โI wonโt let you regret your decision.โ
Roxanne switched off the stove, her emotions conflicted. She couldnโt turn around; Lucian stood behind her. His warm breath brushed her ear. She was secretly relieved he couldn't see her hesitation.
โYouโve finally forgiven me. I canโt go down the wrong path again.โ He released her hand. โDonโt worry. Iโll explain everything that happened today.โ
Roxanne, nervous, asked, โWhat are you going to do?โ
Lucian remained silent, dialing Aubreeโs number. It was time to end their engagement.
After a moment, Roxanne turned, seeing the number on his screen. A wave of nervousness washed over her. But the call went unanswered.
Lucian hung up, frustrated. His gaze softened as he turned to Roxanne.
โIโll talk to her, and explain everything. You were never a homewrecker.โ His tone was resolute. โMy wife has always been, and will always be, you.โ
Roxanneโs eyes fluttered, her heart pounding. Panic overwhelmed her. Lucian gently cupped her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze.
