Chapter 128: Make Sure No One Bullies Her

The kindergarten teacher felt happy and awkward when all five children arrived together.

"Ms. Jarvisโ€ฆ" Aubree had demanded Archie and Benny's expulsion, but Pippa still felt bad and wanted to apologize.

"Looks like I'll be leaving Archie and Benny in your care again!" Roxanne interrupted with a smile.

Pippa nodded enthusiastically. "Of course! They're very obedient children; it's a pleasure to care for them!"

Roxanne nodded. "Also, Essie seems a little withdrawn lately. She doesn't talk much, so please keep a close eye on her." Roxanne avoided mentioning Estella's autism, fearing it would hurt her feelings.

Pippa reassured her she would take good care of them all. Archie and Benny, each holding one of Estella's hands, declared, "We'll help look after Essie too! We won't let anyone bully her!" Roxanne smiled and patted their heads.

Pippa was preparing to take the children inside when she saw Roxanne and Lucian still standing outside. His icy gaze sent a shiver down her spine. "Is there anything else I can help you with?" she asked.

"I'm just a little worried," Roxanne said with a smile. "Would it be alright if I watch them for a while while you teach?"

With Lucian present, Pippa couldn't refuse, letting them into the classroom. Roxanne sat in a corner, feeling a strange sensation as Lucian sat beside her, but kept her feelings to herself. They watched the children play.

To improve Estella's mood, Pippa placed her in the center of the group. Archie and Benny, acting as examples, encouraged the other children to interact with her. However, Estella remained withdrawn and unresponsive. This soon affected the other children's moods, much to Roxanne's dismay. She'd hoped a familiar environment would help, but it didn't seem to be working.

Though Estella remained largely unresponsive, she seemed to grow attached to Archie and Benny after a few games. She followed them constantly and responded when they played with her.

After an hour of observation, Roxanne, still somewhat worried, left for the research institute. Lucian departed shortly after.

After a long afternoon at the institute, Roxanne hurried to pick up the children. To her surprise, Lucian was already waiting. She realized he intended to handle their transportation.

She greeted him and waited for Pippa to bring the children out. Soon, the children exited the classroom in a line, Archie and Benny flanking Estella.

Once they were in Lucian's car, Benny tugged Roxanne's sleeve, beaming. Confused, Roxanne looked at him.

"Essie had a bad dream after our nap!" he exclaimed. "She cried, even though Ms. Ward and the other kids tried to comfort her. Archie and I calmed her down! Do you think she knows us, Mommy?"
