Chapter 1409
Aubree's desperation mirrored Samuel's; he had been frantically working for days. Sonya's promise offered a glimmer of hope; he believed she could persuade Lucian to spare the Pearson family. He hadn't anticipated the relentless, escalating oppression from the Farwell Group, pushing the Pearson family to the brink of bankruptcy. His efforts proved futile, leaving him besieged by worried relatives. Within days, his hair had largely turned gray.
That evening, Samuel sat grim-faced at his study desk, facing several bank officials. Asset transfer agreements lay before him. A bank representative reviewed a document, then slid it across. "Please sign here, Mr. Pearson."
Jarred from his thoughts, Samuel gazed at the assets accumulated through years of toil. Overwhelmed, his hand trembled as he signed. The bank official remained unmoved, proceeding to the next document.
Gina stood pale beside the desk. She had wanted to comfort Samuel but his expression silenced her. Quietly, she fetched a glass of water.
Samuel, already simmering with rage, erupted at the unexpected water. He slammed his hand on the desk, leaping to his feet. "I don't want water! I have nothing left! I can barely breathe!"
A bank official's voice followed, "Mr. Pearson, this house is no longer yours. The bank will seize it tomorrow morning. Please vacate promptly."
Samuel trembled with fury. "Get out! Leave!"
The official, recognizing the Pearsons' downfall, remained unfazed by Samuel's outburst. "We've arranged movers. Please vacate immediately. Failure to cooperate will necessitate forceful measures."
Samuel's face flushed crimson. The Pearsons' disgrace was compounded by the threat of forceful eviction; his dignity was at stake. He took several deep breaths, remaining silent as the officials departed.
"Are we really moving out, Samuel?" Gina asked incredulously, once they were alone. She'd lived in that house since marrying into the family and couldn't bear the thought of leaving, especially for inferior surroundings.
Samuel exploded, pounding the desk. "Why ask me? Ask your precious daughter! If it weren't for her, we wouldn't be in this mess!"
Gina recoiled, speechless.
After his outburst, Samuel slumped into his chair, contemplating a life of poverty. His anger surged anew.
"Samuel!" Gina called out, searching for a solution. Seeing him abruptly rise and head towards the door, she followed, fearing another impulsive act.
