Sonya stared at Roxanne, sensing a change. She seemed fiercer. Realizing this, Sonya scowled. “How dare you speak to me like that? Do you think you’ve become Lucian’s wife simply because he posted that announcement online today?”

Roxanne replied curtly, “I never assumed that. I’m only stating the truth. If you find my words harsh, perhaps you should consider whether you’ve overstepped.” Her words were not inherently wrong, but her tone was sharp.

Sonya’s face contorted in anger. She glanced at Archie and Benny, who returned hostile stares. The boys genuinely hoped Sonya would accept them, but her words had displeased them. It was obvious she was bullying Roxanne, further fueling their resentment.

Sonya’s anger intensified upon meeting their gazes. “Did I say something wrong? I don’t understand Lucian’s announcement. How could he claim these two are his?”

Archie and Benny’s blood boiled at Sonya’s directed malice; they barely restrained themselves from attacking her. Her expression only deepened their dislike. “How could these children possibly be part of the Farwell family? Who knows? They might be from another relationship. The audacity of you to even consider them Farwell heirs! You’re delusional!”

Roxanne, abandoning politeness, retorted, “Mrs. Farwell! Essie, Archie, and Benny are my children. Even if they don’t live in the Farwell residence, I’ll provide comfortably for them. We don’t want a single cent from the Farwell family!”

Sonya scoffed. “Who do you think you are? How can you possibly do that?”

Benny immediately chimed in, “We don’t want Mr. Farwell’s money! We can earn our own!”

Sonya found this ludicrous. These six-year-olds are so presumptuous. They think they can earn their own money! They'll say anything to be accepted.

Dismissing them, she said coldly, “I applaud your… spirit. Seeing as you say so, you’d better not use Essie’s name to gain a place with Lucian.” She believed they would use Estella to leverage their way into the Farwell family.

Roxanne nearly slapped Sonya but controlled herself. “That was never my intention! Stop assuming the worst of my children. If you can’t communicate respectfully, please leave. We don’t welcome impolite people.”

Sonya sneered, “I’m not here to communicate. I’ll leave, but Essie is coming home with me.”

The tension terrified Estella. Upon hearing Sonya’s words, her face flushed, and she cried, “I don’t want to! I want to stay with Mommy!”

Sonya’s face reddened with rage. “You’ll have a better mother in the future!”

Estella shook her head. “No! I just want Mommy!”

Roxanne’s heart ached as she embraced her daughter. “If you want Essie, call Lucian. I won’t object if he agrees,” she told Sonya.
