Chapter 1478
โIโd say Iโm easy on the eyes. Sleeping with me isnโt much of a loss for you,โ he said, tucking a finger under her chin and tilting her face toward his. โYouโre quite a delicacy. I hope you wonโt forget me anytime soon.โ His hand slid down her neck as he leaned closer.
Aubree snapped back to reality, pushing his hand away with a scowl. โGet out! Donโt make me repeat myself!โ
He chuckled at her anger and left. She was alone in the hotel room.
She tried to recall the previous night, but her memory was blank. Sheโd assumed sheโd been assaulted, but this man didnโt look like someone who would be hired; he looked more like the one doing the hiring. Perhaps it was a drunken mistake. Regardless, she couldn't stay.
Gritting her teeth against the pain in her waist, she got out of bed to dress when the door opened. He had returned.
Aubree screamed, wrapping the robe around herself and glaring at him. He held up a bag. โYou must be exhausted, Ms. Pearson. I bought you breakfast.โ He smirked. โI already saw everything you have to offer last night. Donโt bother covering up.โ
Her face burned with shame and anger. โStop looking at me!โ
He obediently turned, then placed her breakfast on the table, gesturing for her to eat. She quickly secured her robe, feeling more confident.
โHow do you know who I am?โ she asked cautiously.
He raised an eyebrow. โItโs not hard to figure out. Is there anyone in Horington who doesnโt know about you and Mr. Farwell?โ
Her face contorted at the mention of her past relationship. โShut up!โ
Unfazed, he finished preparing her breakfast.
Aubree ate, her expression frigid. What happened last night couldn't be undone, and he knew about her and Lucian. She suspected heโd taken advantage of her vulnerability. In the past, she wouldnโt have let him get away with it, but now, she saw a potential use for him. She could use him to show Roxanne who she was messing with.
Her expression softened; a hint of a smile appeared as she watched him glance at his phone.
โWhat are you looking at?โ she asked warily.
He frowned. โCompany stuff. Imagine bothering me this early without even a โgood morning.โโ He returned to his phone.
