Chapter 149: Estella Spoke Again
After hanging up, Roxanne worriedly watched the three children play. Her previous encounter with Lucian had left her concerned he would again question Archie and Benny's background. She also wanted to keep Estella's current condition from him and decided to take her home later.
Lucian called again. "I've arrived. Where are you?"
The children immediately urged Roxanne to take them to the beluga whale show. She agreed, replying to Lucian, "We're at the beluga whale aquarium."
After hanging up, Roxanne took the children to the aquarium. Lucian and Cayden bought tickets and followed.
Roxanne seated the children in the front row. Lucian arrived and sat beside them. Estella greeted him happily but quickly returned her attention to the show. Archie and Benny only nodded; they still weren't speaking to him.
Lucian understood their silence stemmed from the previous dinner and felt frustrated. Roxanne also only briefly acknowledged him before focusing on the performance. Lucian remained silent.
An aquarium staff member directed the beluga whales, expertly guiding their leaps and spins. The children watched, captivated.
"Anyone want to play with our beluga whales?" the staff member asked the audience.
The children eagerly raised their hands. Benny shouted, "Me! Me!"
The staff chose the three children. "You seem to love beluga whales. Come play!"
The children jumped for joy but asked Roxanne's permission. Concerned for their safety, Roxanne asked if the parents could accompany them. The staff agreed.
Roxanne and the children went to the pool's edge and followed the staff's instructions. After the formal interaction ended, they lingered. The staff, charmed by their enthusiasm, continued to guide their play. Roxanne watched from the side.
Archie and Benny stayed together. Benny, ever playful, knelt by the pool, splashing water on a beluga whale. "I'm bathing you! Stay still!" The whale, naturally, splashed back. Soon, Archie, soaked by the splashing, moved away, annoyed.
Estella quietly squatted, gently petting a beluga whale. The whale responded calmly. The staff, observing this interaction, subtly directed the whale behind Estella. The whale suddenly leaped, startling Estella, and lightly kissed her cheek before diving back into the water.
Estella, stunned, then excitedly told Roxanne, "Wow, Ms. Jarvis, the beluga whale kissed me!"
