Chapter 1494

Meanwhile, Roxanne was walking toward the car with the children when she saw Lucian questioning Ophelia. "Lucian?"

Noticing his fury, she quickly positioned herself in front of the children and shot Lucian a warning look. Lucian clenched his fists before releasing Ophelia and gesturing for his bodyguards to let her go. Ophelia gasped, terrified, barely able to move.

"Daddy!" the three children greeted Lucian affectionately, despite Roxanne's intervention. When Roxanne sensed the tension easing, she released her grip on the children. They noticed Ophelia, who seemed disoriented, and greeted her respectfully, "Ms. Smith." However, Ophelia, consumed by panic, didn't respond. Their unanswered greeting prompted the children's confused glances at the adults.

"Daddy, why are you and Ms. Smith here?" Benny asked innocently. The children clearly remembered Lucian's instructions: "Mr. Farwell" at home, "Daddy" elsewhere.

Sensing their confusion, Roxanne looked nervously at Lucian, unsure how to explain. Lucian calmly intervened, "Ms. Smith isn't feeling well; I've arranged for her to go to the hospital." His voice was natural, concealing his hostility, though the bodyguards understood the implication. They quickly took Ophelia to a nearby car.

Estella, without hesitation, nodded and said naively, "Daddy, make sure you help Ms. Smith get better soon, okay?" Lucian nodded noncommittally. The children then asked expectantly, "Are you having dinner with us tonight?"

"Not tonight. We'll have dinner together another day," Lucian replied. He then instructed the bodyguards, "Take them home. Use my car." The bodyguards escorted the children.

Roxanne looked at her own car, then back at Lucian, a confused expression on her face. "They'll take you to the car first. Daddy has something to tell Mommy," Lucian told the children. The three little ones nodded; Benny even gave Lucian a thumbs-up before leaving.

As the children departed, the hostility surrounding Lucian dissipated, replaced by a faint smile. Once they were gone, Roxanne asked, "What just happened? I thought Ms. Smith had resigned. What did she..."

Lucian's expression grew serious. "She tried to harm you by tampering with your car. We found a bottle of lubricant. You shouldn't drive it; I'll send it to the workshop for a thorough inspection."

Fury consumed Lucian at the thought of what could have happened. Roxanne's face paled. She glanced at her car, fear evident. "If you hadn't found out, the kids and I would have been in danger!" she exclaimed.

Roxanne frowned, considering the possible consequences. After glaring at Ophelia with disgust, she asked, "But why did she do that?"

Lucian's face hardened. "That's what I want to know. Take the children home first. I'll keep you updated."
